Next up in our love letters to band’s series is head of reviews Lizi’s letter to Ice Nine Kills.
Dear Spencer, Conor, JD and Justin,
I remember first finding out about you in late 2014 when I heard Spencer on Youth in Revolt‘s Christmas track Where You Belong and in short just fell in love with his voice, so the natural thing to do was to check out his band and it just snowballed from there.
I’m really easy to please in terms of listening to music, if it sounds good to me, I’ll listen to it but it takes something special to actually keep me interested in a band and the storytelling behind each track, dual vocals and the way your cleans and screams effortlessly blend together kept me hooked.
I remember always praying for a UK tour but it never happened so I would just put on YouTube videos of live performances although the atmosphere was always something that was missing by doing that. Then late in 2016, I finally got my chance when you came over on your own headline tour and it was every bit as spectacular as I thought it would be and getting to meet the four of you was like a dream come true, it was lovely to be able to have a laugh and a joke and then getting to finally see a live show full of charisma and just all round brilliant work. Who needs a whole load of props and backdrops when you can just stick you four guys on a stage to work your magic?
Let’s hope for a swift return yeah lads?
Lots of love,
Lizi (the girl no-one saved with blood on her face, maybe now you’ll remember my name? 😉 )
