There aren’t many bands who it can be said are as exciting now as they were when you first heard them, but with Like A Storm, the statement could not be more accurate! Their layered masterpeices combining brilliant vocals, gritty guitars and not forgetting the infamous didgeridoo, really sets the band apart from their peers.
Now, ahead of their UK return (which will be only their fourth time since March 2015’s debut with Black Veil Brides) alongside Gojira and Volbeat as support for Alter Bridge on their arena tour, the quartet have released a new track Pure Evil.
Pure Evil is just under seven minutes of pure art. Not content with being ‘another metal band’, the track mixes the metal elements we’ve come to love from them, including their trademark didgeridoo and monster drums and riffs with the harmony of choirs and electronics. An odd mix you may be thinking, but trust me, it works well!
Speaking of the track, bassist Kent Brooks says; “From all of our touring here we got turned onto a lot of heavier music coming out of Europe/Scandanavia like Dimmu Borgir & Gojira. We’ve always loved writing music that’s layered and epic, and wanted to keep pushing that.”
Speaking of the lyrical content, guitarist Matt Brooks adds; “The hypocrisy and exploitation that pervade the highest levels of church and government are just sickening. The people making the rules are breaking them more than anyone. “Pure Evil” is about calling these people out, making them face the truth about who they are and what they have done.”
The video, set in a church in one of America’s most dangerous cities, is set to be revealed soon, but for now, you can listen to Pure Evil below;
The band are currently on tour across mainland Europe with Gojira and Volbeat in support of Alter Bridge. Alter Bridge‘s Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy have both been blown away by Like A Storm‘s musical talent and work ethic;
“‘Pure Evil’ is totally killer! This song will be so badass live.” – Mark Tremonti
“They’re hardcore. I see them show up onstage every night and give it 10,000%… They have definitely proved that they deserve every bit of success that they have coming to them.” – Myles Kennedy.
