On Tuesday November 28 (known in the US as Giving Tuesday), Heart Support released a short video titled Love, Maggie.

First off, what is Heart Support? Well, Heart Support is an award-winning (2016 Non-Profit of the Year, 2016 Artist Philanthropic Award at Alternative Press Awards, named as one of the top 100 socially innovative non-profits in the world at Classy Awards) not-for-profit organisation founded by Grammy-nominated August Burns Red vocalist Jake Luhrs. The aim? To create a direct link between mental health issues and stigma and the music community.

We all know that music in itself can be therapeutic for people, whether they struggle with mental health issues or not and Heart Support aims to unite music fans and bands to create a community that carries a message of hope, healing and restoration for those who struggle with mental health issues/disorders, suicidal ideation and addiction.

The video Love, Maggie is part of the campaign to bring awareness to the importance of mental health in today’s society. The short film is emotionally moving and successful in the aim of showcasing the everyday difficulties many of us face in secret.

The video is so moving as Maggie is your everyday girl, she could be the girl you see on her own in school, college or university. She’s the girl who works at the supermarket or your local coffee shop. She’s your friend, daughter, sister, niece, neighbour. But Maggie doesn’t need to be alone, Maggie can be helped, and that is the aim of Heart Support!

You can help Heart Support and participate in the process of helping more people that desperately need help to overcome their personal demons by joining in the fight for mental health this holiday season by donating on the following link, as there is the fantastic opportunity to earn exclusive perks (stickers, T-shirts, concert tickets, concert laminates, signed albums from August Burns Red, handwritten lyrics, and a chance to win a golden ticket with Jake Luhrs from August Burns Red for dinner, hangouts, backstage, all access one evening), while participating in a movement that truly matters and supporting a positive change by joining the other troops battling for mental health: https://holdtheline.funraise.org/
