Looking for something to fill that post-2000 Trees / pre-Reading & Leeds lull? Then look no further. Fat Lip Festival is here and bringing some of the most exciting rock bands of all rock genres to Bristol for one day this July. Set in small venues, the festival gives audiences the chance to get a little more up close and personal with music.

Split between 3 stages at Bristol’s Bierkeller & The Lanes, which are within very short walking distance of each other, festival goers are really spoilt for choice with what they can watch. So how to decide? Here at Alt Corner we’ve selected some of the bands we think you shouldn’t miss at this year’s Fat Lip Festival.

Straight Lines: After their performance at 2000 Trees festival went down an absolute treat with fans new and old, we’re sure that this will be the case once again in Bristol. It’s great to see the band all over the festival circuit this summer and their fun rock sound is perfect festival music. Head along for a little throwback vibe.

Feed The Rhino: Expect carnage, at least we hope so. Feed The Rhino are one of the best live bands on the circuit right now and always put their all into their show & deserve a big crowd. We’ve got our fingers crossed that the people show up & get stuck in.

Grumble Bee (Acoustic) : Grumble Bee’s acoustic performances always go down a storm. The raw heartfelt energy keeps fans coming back & undoubtedly the Grumble Bee fan base is about to grow once again after his Fat Lip performance.

Dead!: One of the most exciting bands in the rock scene right now, Dead! have been making waves across Europe, playing both Download in the UK & France, this summer but are back to play some UK festivals before they head out on a headline tour. They’re passionate & give every performance their all, this will undoubtedly be no different.

WSTR (Acoustic) : Another act not to miss on the acoustic stage & one also playing a full band set on the Bierkeller Fireball stage. Playing both types of set at a festival really gives bands to showcase their music in different lights and often draws people in who may not have considered the band to be ‘their kind of music.’ We’re sure that WSTR’s acoustic set will be something special.

As Lions: Having recently released their debut album as well as announcing tour dates, the band couldn’t be in a better place right now. This positive energy should translate into one exciting set. Having supported the likes of Five Finger Death Punch, the band have been in great company. Take a listen to the track below & you’ll see exactly why you should go and check them out.

Holding Absence: AltCorner are big fans of Holding Absence so they were always going to make the list. The melodic post-hardcore band are gaining a wealth of fans everywhere they go & this Bristol show is sure to be the same. Catching the band in this small venue is going to be a real treat.

Look out for our review & live social media updates during the festival!
