Irish indie rockers Susie Blue know what they’re about. Standing strong against social prejudice particularly in the form of homophobia, their music is full of passionate lyrics and catchy sounds – but where does that inspiration come from?

Lead singer Susan Donaghy give us an insight into her favourite records and picks her top 5 albums for our Desert Island Discs.

“Okay so first off I would have to bring 2 Kings Of Leon albums which would be ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ and ‘Youth and Young Manhood’, basically because I spent my early teen years listening to them constantly with my friends and playing the songs at open mic nights, so every time they come on I fall in love again.

‘OK Computer’ by
Radiohead would be a must, it relaxes me for some reason. It is such a fantastic collection of songs and it honestly makes me get creative.

Joan Jett ‘Bad Reputation’ gets me so fired up, all the songs on that album just scream I don’t care. She’s my idol so I couldn’t go to a desert island without her

Finally, I’d bring ‘We Like It Here’ by
Snarky Puppy, they’re so talented and every time a song is playing I am in awe of the solos and the way it’s all put together.”
