When February comes around, it’s known for two things; the Six Nations rugby tournament and Valentines Day. For some of us, Valentines Day is about spending the day with loved ones and for others its for wallowing in self-pity, eating a tub of Ben & Jerrys to ourselves and binge-watching cheesy romcoms while trying to avoid the even cheesier poppy love songs.
Well Danny Wright has come to our rescue with his own anti-Valentines Day anthem I Didn’t Like You (And I Really Mean It)! The track is set to be released on Valentines Day (or Wednesday 14th Feb) and he explains;
“This is a song I’ve been sitting on for a long time, I had a bunch of songs that have been in the works for years, I recently had a horrible anxiety attack which led to a course of therapy sessions. They really helped and a lot with my music blocks, it gave me a more of a ‘fuck it’ attitude. Made me want to get this stuff finished, get to work and get on with it.
‘I didn’t like you (and I really mean it)’ is one of those songs that lets you get out everything you wish you had said before and embrace the single life. You’re better off alone if its not with someone who encourages you rather than the opposite.”
