What is the world coming to these days? Musicians aren’t made of money and some delinquents feel the need to help them struggle even more by stealing their gear! It seems every month we have at least one story of a band being robbed and unfortunately today is no exception!
This time, the victims are the brilliant punks Chapter and Verse. Following their London show at The Garage on October 23, the band had around £3000 worth of gear stolen. In a statement, Jonathan Hopwood said;
“Last night, on the 23rd of Oct, we played a show at the Garage, LDN.
The gig was incredible; the perfect way to end a small run of shows.
After the show, we returned to my car to find the front passenger window had been smashed and approx £3000 worth of equipment stolen including:
Fender Bassman 500 (Bass Head)
Ibanez Sr500 Bass Guitar
Ibanez Electric Guitar
Korg Tuner
DOD Meatbox Subsynth
Line6 Wireless kit x 2
Switch Pedal x 2
2 x Pedal Board
T Rex Fuel tank plus patch leads and power cable.
Line 6 wireless pack x2
Boss tuner TU-3
Ibanez Tube Screamer
Joyo Delay Pedal
Hall of Fame TC Electronic Reverb
Boss Phaser
Boss Noise Suppressor
Peavy 6505 foot changer switch x2
After we took a minute to process this & put things into perspective, we realised no one was hurt and the equipment that was stolen is all replaceable but the thing I couldn’t expel from my mind was how often this happens to musicians/bands. A skint group of people, who sacrifice financial security to be able to make and tour their music. Individuals who work three jobs, so they can afford a new guitar or a week in the studio. It’s such a fragile love. It’s hard enough without having to deal with set backs like this one. It’s all too common.
This IS a setback, it WON’T end us.
We are determined to play all the shows we have booked in for the rest of the year. But, we will need help. We will need to replace our equipment. We, as a band, simply can’t afford to do that. But if a lot of people donate a little bit of money, hopefully, we can dust ourselves off, reset and continue to do what we love. Any amount people can give is incredibly appreciated.
Big love to the Massmatiks boys for putting us on the show last night & thank you so much for all the love and support we have already received.”
This is an absolutely disgusting thing to have done, but kudos to the band for staying positive. They have set up a JustGiving page to get them back on track, if you could spare even just a couple of pounds, please head to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/chapterandverse
