Arcane Roots have revealed the stunning video for new single Curtains. Filmed in the wet, windy and freezing yet picturesque hills of Wales. The visual was directed by Miguel Santana who has worked with ILM on Rogue One, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Force Awakens.
Frontman Andrew Groves says; “Throughout the writing process there were frequent moments where a visual idea or theme led the music and we wanted to endeavour to bring those moments to life for the audience. We wanted the ‘Curtains’ video to encapsulate all the themes within the record in a very literal way, almost as if it was like an animated piece of the artwork. We wanted to show how the beauty in the miraculous lives we lead, and how it’s forever shrouded before our very eyes, by the weight of the world and all of it’s minutiae.”
Director Miguel Santana adds;
“This video is a very raw and visceral expression of how I see the world and humanity right now. There’s a real beauty in our very literal rise from the seas into the stars – our accomplishments as a species is just monumental, I mean, just absolutely mind blowing. Just a few weeks ago I had to stop and think I was looking at photographs taken on another planet, by a robot we sent up there. But just as quickly you forget. Because there’s Brexit, and your tax return. You consider how short a blip we represent in the history universe, the ugliness of man, the cruelty, its petty absurdity and meaninglessness when you consider the big picture. The fact we can’t look up from our feet to look at and appreciate – truly feel connected to the aforementioned wonders. But ultimately In this video I wanted to present a hopeful vision, of everyday people waking from their daily trance, to look up at the lights in the sky, even just for one moment – as the lights represent us, all our ugliness and all our beauty. An anomaly in chaos, and one worth beholding.”
