The Hara take on the A-Z challenge!

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the band bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of The Hara to tell us about themselves!

In today’s A-Z challenge, we wanted to find out more about The Hara as we celebrate the release of new album The Fallout.

Here guitarist Zack Breen takes us through our famed 26 questions to fill us in!

A song that made you want to make music?

Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold.

Best rider you’ve had?

Whenever we get a big selection of biscuits.

Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?

There’s too many to choose from. Supporting some of our favourite bands of all time has to be up there. But also, simply visiting amazing places. The entire travelling aspect of band life is so much fun and always an interesting and inspiring part of the job.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

Twist The Arrows from our upcoming album The Fallout has some really deep cuts.

Easiest song you wrote?

Trophy came out super easy… Once we had the chorus/hook the rest just fell into place.

Favourite song in your set?

Our song Violence is our favourite at the moment!

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Fred Durst.

Hardest thing about being in a band?

Keeping healthy on tour is a real challenge. Too many late-night McDonalds doesn’t do anybody any favours.

Interesting fact about one of your members?

Jack’s dad used to play professional football for Burnley.

Jokes you have in the band?

We quote a lot of Step Brothers.

Key to writing a song?

We write in a very collaborative way so one of the things we’ve learnt is to trust each other, explore ideas, and have an open mind.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

We drove from Download festival to Rock For People Festival in the Czech Republic in like 1.5 days. It was insane.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Touring with Ice Nine Kills was incredibly inspiring. The professionalism and kindness of both the band and their crew was great to be a part of.

New band you’d recommend?

Check out our friends in As December Falls.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

Bring Me TheHorizon would be a dream.

Place you’d most like to tour?

A full North America tour would be mental!

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

Keep doing your thing.

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

We called our second album The Fallout because we felt it perfectly embodied our journey to this point as a band. We broke ourselves down to build ourselves back up again and plant our flag firmly in the ground.

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

In terms of being a musician and trying to make it in this industry, thanks to the internet it has become much more possible to grow your audience and raise awareness of your band. In terms of music, we’ll take 2000s nu-metal & metalcore all day every day.

Unusual merchandise?

Years ago, when we were signed to our first record label; they had the idea of releasing THE HARA branded sex toys. The idea never materialised, thankfully, but we still joke about it to this day.

Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?

We actually improvise a lot during our live show so each show has a little something special and unique about it. It’s also just really fun!

What do your fans mean to you?

Everything! We wouldn’t be here without them.

X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?

Zack fell off a skateboard whilst we were on tour in Berlin and his foot got mangled. He had to sit down on a stool for the rest of the tour. Silly Zack.

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Probably something to do with Josh. Bloody singers.

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band?

A cute and chill sloth.
