The Chuck Norris Experiment take on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of The Chuck Norris Experience to tell us all about themselves.

In today’s A-Z challenge, we asked wanted to know more about The Chuck Norris Experiment so guitarist Chuck Daniel’s answered our famed 26 questions!

A song that made you want to make music?

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath. A riff that’s tattooed into my soul.

Best rider you’ve had?

Probably in Zurich way back in the day, where we actually got everything we asked for; which is to say a lot since our rider at the time was kind of ridiculous. I can´t remember everything, but there was definitely some vintage single malt involved.

Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?

We were almost killed after playing a German biker gathering once upon a time. Still don´t know why, but it probably had something to do with rival clubs and/or some girls.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

We don´t care that much for deep. “You go boom!” says it all.

Easiest song you wrote?

Bitch” from the Dead Central album. Ten minutes and a lot of anger.

Favourite song in your set?

Right now it´s “Hot Damn”. Such a smooth ride.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Probably Henry Rollins if I had to choose one.

Hardest thing about being in a band?

I actually love everything about it. Sure there has been some challenges with shitty promotors, dodgy agents and past band members, but it´s a long way to the top …

Interesting fact about one of your members?

Our bass player knows everything about swedish war tanks. He can take them apart and put them together in a flash.

Jokes you have in the band?

I would love to share that with you, but they are way too explicit to write out of context. You had to be there, as they say.

Key to writing a song?

Listen to your gut, and try not to think about what others might think.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

The CNE has toured USA, so that´s probably it.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

I was backstage at a Primus gig once. Les Claypool is truly insane.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

AC/DC

Place you’d most like to tour?

I would really like to go around southern Europe again. Spain, Italy, Croatia, Greece, etc. Nice people and nice beaches.

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

“Listen to your heart and ignore when someone tries to tell you what to do.” That´s a quote by me, by the way.

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

The CNE has been around for 20 years (!). So our album is called “20”.

See us live at?

Hard Rock Hell Spring Break 15/3 2025 in Great Yarmouth, UK.

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

This is going to make me sound REALLY old (but that´s ok because I actually am). I would like the industry to go back to the eighties, when radio, LP:s and live shows were the main thing for artists. When piracy was equal to sending cassettes all over the world, and a record deal actually meant something, and usually was offered to hard working, talented bands. Call me crazy.

Unusual merchandise?

We had our own beer called Orange Lightning, but unfortunately it´s sold out. So if you are a brewery, hook us up!

Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?

They are exactly as they should be. But we are actually putting together some acoustic stuff – dark and dangerous country versions of old songs and new ones – that will be released as soon as we record it.

What do your fans mean to you?

We are lucky in a way, having built up a loyal fan-base before social media or Spotify even existed. Our fans are great, and we are very thankful for every time someone comes to our show or buy our records.

X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?

No more than the usual white month after touring for a while …

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

It´s always Chuck Dakota.

Zoo animal that next describes the personality of your band?

Probably a Python. A nice hug before swallowing you whole.
