In today’s A-Z challenge, we find out all about Seven Blood who take on our famed 26 questions!
A song that made you want to make music?
Complicated – Avril Lavigne
Best rider you’ve had?
Batschkapp Frankfurt, we were taken care of from A to Z there, with freshly cooked meals and everything you could wish for. Though honestly, nothing really tops the all-you-can-eat experience on the Full Metal Cruise
Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?
Also on the Full Metal Cruise — the stage was literally rocking with the waves while we were doing soundcheck. On another day we had an off day and could watch the band playing on deck straight from the outdoor pool after coming out of the sauna.
Deepest lyric one of your songs features?
We have a strong personal relationship with all our lyrics. It’s because we talk about topics sometimes for hours, before getting it into a song lyric. We call it our ‘band-therapy’ 🙂
Easiest song you wrote?
Monsters – The riff was there and then song wrote itself. It doesn’t happen too often, but this song came together really quick.
Favourite song in your set?
Maybe Not your Misery?
Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?
There are a lot, but Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac would be insane!
Hardest thing about being in a band?
To find common dates.
Interesting fact about one of your members?
Seven Blood is Azaria’s first band.
Jokes you have in the band?
If we have a different opinion from whatever ‘fact’ is going around, we say *genauuuu* ironically .. which basically means ‘exactly.’
Key to writing a song?
Honesty and emotion. If it doesn’t feel real, it won’t connect.
Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?
We’ve travelled by nightliner through England, Scotland, Spain, and Italy — and even by ship to Sweden. Since we always had our beds with us on the road, we didn’t really notice the distance that much.
Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?
Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Paramore, Sleep Token
New band you’d recommend?
We’d say Seven Blood, haha
Opening for this band would be ideal?
We’ve already had the chance to open the stage for some amazing bands, but sharing it with Spiritbox, Poppy, Paramore, or Evanescence would be absolutely incredible.
Place you’d most like to tour?
Paris was beautiful. We had some time for sightseeing, the crowd in front of the stage was really into it even though they didn’t know us, and we rented an Airbnb where we cooked together like one big family.
Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?
It’s important not to carry your problems on your own, but to open up and share them with others.
Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?
…
See us live at?
…
The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?
It’s also fascinating how there’s a constant evolution going on.
Unusual merchandise?
We don’t have any unusual merchandise yet. For now, we’ve put together the essentials you need to take on tour. We haven’t gotten around to more just yet, since it felt more important to focus on building something consistent first. But we definitely have plenty of ideas in mind for the future.
Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?
We don’t have any specific plans for that yet, since all the songs we play live are still quite new. However, there’s one unreleased song we could definitely imagine doing an acoustic version of for our live shows.
What do your fans mean to you?
We already have some people we can proudly call our fans, which we honestly didn’t expect in such a short time. We’re really grateful for their support – they’re genuinely lovely people, and some of them even share very personal and emotional stories with us.
X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?
Apart from the usual bruises, we’ve been lucky so far. Fingers crossed!
You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?
Within the band, we have a pretty generous idea of what ‘being on time’ means — we always joke about the obligatory fifteen minutes. But we’ve never actually been late for a show, let alone for getting on stage.
Zoo animal that next describes the personality of your band?
I’d say somewhere between a monkey and a crab. We’re often all over the place and a bit wild – like when Azaria swings from one chair to another like a monkey playing ‘The Floor is Lava,’ or when we excitedly scuttle down the hallway like crabs.
