Monkey Intrusion take on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of Monkey Intrusion to tell us about themselves!

A song that made you want to make music?

Probably “Whole Lotta Love” from Led Zeppelin.

Best rider you’ve had?

A gig we had last summer in a small venue in our home town where the drinks were not just pouring, they were lashing!

Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?

I know it seems I’m trying to avoid the question, but almost every time we rehearse!

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

Well, there are two of them that go really deep. “Rio Portrait” is about the “ninos de rua” and it’s told by the point of view of one of them… it doesn’t end well as you can imagine. The second is “Lady Death” and it’s in the form of a dialogue with death of course… the lyrics put in a lot of irony but it’s about the loss of someone really dear.

Easiest song you wrote?

The next one we hope!

Favourite song in your set?

Bad Love” because it’s got so many nuances.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Probably Dave Grohl for his incredible energy and creativity.

Hardest thing about being in a band?

To understand when to shut up!

Interesting fact about one of your members?

The worst injuries, like broken bones and stuff, of Marco Plesnicar, the bass player, happened walking while drunk.

Jokes you have in the band?

It’s linked to a joke about a wolf that finds out many implausible excuses trying to avoid being bullied by a lion. So when anyone tries to skedaddle we call him “a wolf”.

Key to writing a song?

Well, a good chords progression and a solid idea for the lyrics.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

So far 200 kilometres… hoping to increase that number very soon!

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Foo Fighters, we’ve seen them three times live!

New band you’d recommend?

Chrysarmonia.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

Halestorm” impressed us very much when we saw ‘em live in Germany last summer!

Place you’d most like to tour?

At present central eastern Europe… in the future who knows…

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

Listen to our music… please.

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

Our most recent single is “Bad Love” and it’s about one of those love stories that are as intense as painful and toxic.

See us live at?

The schedule is in the making right now..

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

Probably it’s true… on the other hand for small bands there are more opportunities right now.

Unusual merchandise?

No merchandise yet.

Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?

Not really… we’re pretty happy about what we’ve released so far.

What do your fans mean to you?

For any band they’re paramount, aren’t they?

X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?

Probably a wedding album is much thinner than our collection!

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Sorry Enrico… but you know it’s true!

Zoo animal that next describes the personality of your band?

An easy one! Monkey of course!
