Leah Martin-Brown takes on the A-Z Challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many artists out there. Here it’s the turn of Leah-Martin Brown to tell us all about themselves.

In today’s A-Z challenge, we asked Leah Martin-Brown 26 questions to find out all about herself!

A song that made you want to make music?

JailbreakAC/DC

Best rider you have had?

A really cool hotel in Stockholm (I forget the name of). The chef made us specialty bolognese and then we got to sleep the night in a proper hotel room all covered under our performance agreement.

Craziest moment you’ve experienced in music?

Performing in front of over 250,000 people in Poland.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

“You’re not a God to me- I know that’s what you think. If only you loved me the way you love to drink.”

Easiest song you wrote?

Surrender with my band Evol Walks

Favourite song in your set?

I haven’t played the new project live yet BUT I think it will be Shush.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Jesper Stromland from The Halo Effect.

Hardest thing about being a musician?

The constant judging of your art- usually by people who do not make art themselves.

Interesting fact about you?

I can whistle incredibly loudly? I’ve also lived in 2 countries aside from my home of Australia.

Jokes you like to tell?

Really bad ones that make you groan… or kinda clever dirty ones that make you pause and say “Wait a minute!”

Key to writing a song?

Being comfortable in the surroundings you are writing.

Longest distance you’ve traveled to play a show?

Europe to Australia… that was a LONG flight.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Definitely any time I watch Puscifer I am in awe.

New band/artist you’d recommend?

Grace Alexander. She is an up and comer from Australia but she will be huge one day.

Opening for this band/artist would be ideal?

Tool…. Sleep TokenBring me the Horizon

Place you’d most like to tour?

Everywhere and Anywhere! But I’d love to tour through the midwest OR go back to Europe.

Quote that you’d like to pass on to our readers?

“Only boring people get bored”- My Dad.

Reason for the title of your forthcoming release?

I felt it best represented the energy of the songs within. And it sounded catchy 🙂

See me live at?

Somewhere soon hopefully! See my instagram for show updates!

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

I think it depends. I do prefer the old days when albums were king and people listened to a record top to bottom. I do wish we didn’t focus so much on social media and focused on the music and the creation and playing of it instead.

Unusual merchandise?

I would love to make some weird kind of voodoo dolls that are somehow tied in with my brand… otherwise I guess I’ll just make hats, shirts and socks like everyone else? Probably safer… haha

Variations you’d like to do on one of your songs?

I love creating acoustic versions. I think it brings new meaning to songs that the listener may have missed the first time.

What do your fans mean to you?

Without them I could not continue to do what I do. There wouldn’t be a purpose really. I am incredibly grateful

X-rays or any treatments needed for performance-related injuries?

None for performance related but I absolutely have had intense food poisoning twice while being onstage… It was BRUTAL and I wish to never repeat either of those instances.

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

The barista for taking too long making the iced coffee. Obviously. (Joking… It would be mine… for stopping)

Zoo animal that best describes your personality?

I would LOVE to say I’m a wolf or a tiger. But pretty sure I’m something cute and goofy like an otter or something.
