Eleni Nota speaks with infectious enthusiasm about Ankor’s long-awaited Download Festival debut, describing the moment as a dream come true after years of watching iconic performances from the festival online.
With the band yet to take the stage at the time of the interview, she says they were already loving every minute of the experience and were especially excited to encounter Download’s famously wild crowd.
The interview also traces evolution from their early power metal roots into a more genre-fluid sound, blending metalcore, electronic touches and Japanese influences.
Nota explains that the band’s changing line-up and shared interests have helped shape that shift, while her own heavier drumming background has pushed the material even further. She points to recent songs such as Prisoner and Venom as examples of the band getting heavier over time.
Looking ahead, Ankor are building towards a new mini-album, with three recent singles forming part of the release. Their schedule remains packed, with festival appearances, headline dates and tours across Europe, North America, Japan and Mexico all contributing to what Nota describes as a ‘crazy’ year.
Elsewhere in the conversation, she reflects on how audiences differ around the world, praises particularly memorable shows in London, Germany and Mexico, and even joins in with a playful round of random questions, revealing her love of Eevee, Tokyo, and Slytherin. It’s a lively, candid chat that captures both the band’s ambition and their sense of fun.
