In today’s A-Z challenge, we find out all about Fight Back Mountain as we celebrate the release of new single Sticker Book.
A song that made you want to make music?
The song “Jesus of Suburbia” by Green Day. Name a more perfect song; you can’t.
Best rider you’ve had?
One time we played with Story of the Year and it was catered. That was cool.
Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?
A while ago me and Devin (our drummer) played in a very similar band to this, and we played a house show where septic drainage started leaking out of the floor. Also the cops showed up, as you might expect.
Deepest lyric one of your songs features?
I like the lyric “A broken heart will keep beating / I return every day for a memory more fleeting / when I felt young, felt alive / back to another place in time,” which is the ending bridge of our new song “Sticker Book.”
Easiest song you wrote?
The easiest song that we ever wrote was “Trouble and Havoc,” which we just released as a single in November. It’s like, three chords.
Favourite song in your set?
My favorite song in our set is the cover of “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit, which we’ve been playing for a few months. It’s such a fun cover, and everyone knows the words.
Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?
Robert Smith.
Hardest thing about being in a band?
The hardest thing about being in a band is making a name for yourself and sticking out among the unending ocean of other bands out there.
Interesting fact about one of your members?
I, Adrian, am a practicing criminal defense attorney!
Jokes you have in the band?
During our first ever tour, I had the song “Do I Wanna Know?” by the Arctic Monkeys stuck in my head so, so bad, and I kept singing the Ford Truck Month sounding main riff over and over again. That’s definitely our favorite in-joke.
Key to writing a song?
Have your rhythm guitar player write all the words like I do. Makes it much easier.
Longest distance you’ve traveled to play a show?
The farthest we’ve gone to play a show is 7 hours to Lincoln, Nebraska. We’re relatively new to touring, but we’ve got another tour scheduled for March of 2025.
Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?
Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day. He’s got the stage presence.
New band you’d recommend?
Anxious.

Green Day. Hit us up, boys.

Japan!
Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?
Make sure you tune your guitar at least twice during your set.
Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?
I am a big fan of the artist Hieronymus Bosch, his art is so wild. It’s a reference to one of his paintings.
See us live at?
The Sinkhole in South St. Louis!
The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?
We always have rose-colored glasses for the past, right?
Unusual merchandise?
We don’t have any, but I’ve seen bands put their discography onto Gameboy cartridges somehow. I’m not sure how to do that.
Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?
Nightcore remixes. It’s coming back in a big way.
What do your fans mean to you?
Our fans are everything! We wouldn’t be here without them.
X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?
No, but one time I played a show with a sprained LCL. That sucked.
You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?
Probably Devin, our drummer. It’s always the drummer.
Zoo animal that next describes the personality of your band?
The majestic Puma. Because we all really like cats.
