EDIE BENS takes on the A-Z challenge!

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of EDIE BENS to tell us about herself!

In today’s A-Z challenge, we learn all about EDIE BENS!

A song that made you want to make music?

Shiver by Lucy Rose, I heard it on the radio in the car to school and became obsessed with how she had captured nostalgia.

Best rider you’ve had?

There was a giant baby bell on the rider at a festival I played last summer, I took it home and put it in the air fryer.

Craziest moment you’ve experienced as a musician?

Probably playing the Cardiff Utilia Arena supporting Far From Saints, it was the closest “big” venue to my hometown. Growing up and I never would have believed I’d get to play there.

Easiest song you wrote?

Baby Blue!

Favourite song in your set?

“Given Up Giving You Up,” it’s not out yet hehe.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Bruce Springsteen

Hardest thing about being a musician?

Being broke haha.

Interesting fact about yourself?

I once ate 18 bananas in one day and haven’t eaten any since

Jokes you like to tell?

Have you heard the joke about butter? I can’t tell you, you’ll spread it.

Key to writing a song?

Letting yourself live a little, you need inspiration!

Longest distance you’ve traveled to play a show?

Austin, Texas although the drive to Inverness felt longer.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

It was Paolo Nutini playing in Swansea when I was 16 and decided right there I wanted to be a musician.

New band/artist you’d recommend?

Memorial, their harmonies are crazy.

Opening for this band/artist would be ideal?

I would LOVE to open for Angie McMahon. I adore her music.

Place you’d most like to tour?

Australia, although I’m scared of spiders.

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

What’s the best that could happen?

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

I just released a single called “Friendly Fire“. It’s about how we often hurt the ones we love the most.

See me live at?

Llangollen Eistedfodd supporting KT Tunstall, and hopefully a London headline in September.

The old days of music were better than the current, so you agree?

Ermm this one is so hard! I think that I long for a period of music without social media being so intertwined.

Unusual merchandise?

I have a cap with my dead dog on it that reads ‘Edie Bens made me cry’. I think it would look great on you.

Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?

I’d love to do a string and vocal arrangement of “Baby Blue“.

What do your fans mean to you?

I’m still a baby artist so the fact people are listening to my music and coming to shows means the world to me!!

X-rays or any treatments needed for performance-related injuries?

Not yet!

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

I want to say TFL but I probably got distracted on a side quest.

Zoo animal that best describes your personality?

Capybara
