BEX takes on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of BEX to tell us all about herself!

In today’s A-Z challenge, we asked rising star BEX to tell us more about herself!

A song that made you want to make music?

Light Me UpThe Pretty Reckless

Best rider you have had?

In Colchester last year with Witch Fever we had a full sit down meal and could order as much as we wanted and the food was SOOO good.

Craziest moment as an artist?

The craziest thing to me is just playing the same stages as bands I’ve always admired and sometimes meeting them! It still blows my mind coz I’m just a fangirl at heart.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

This isn’t love this is just another mistake” It’s something I constantly find myself thinking but never being able to admit until everyone gets hurt.

Easiest song you wrote?

Filfy, this track came so easy, we wrote it and recorded it all in one day and never really re visited it, we just decided it was done.

Favourite song in your set?

My favourite song to perform is always SPYD4 K1NG because the crowd joins in and it’s such a wholesome fun moment.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

The Pretty Reckless – they are my all time fav band, I would love to collab with them.

Hardest thing about being a solo artist?

Trying to fund it – it’s very very expensive. It’s like paying to have a full time job, rather than actually having a full time job. As there is very little financial reward to being an artist it can be hard to find the motivation everyday to keep going.

Interesting fact about you?

My hair isn’t naturally red…

Joke you like to tell?

I am so bad at jokes, I don’t think I’ve actually ever told one.

Key to writing a song?

There is no key. You just have to write about something you know, something you believe in and is personal to you, then other people will relate as well.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

To Glasgow – about 7 hour drive

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Bobby from Bob Vylan is so inspiring

New band/artist you’d recommend?

Calva Louise are my current obsession

Opening for this band/artist would be ideal?

The Pretty Reckless of course

Place you’d most like to tour?

Europe

Quote that you’d like to pass on to our readers?

‘Enjoy the journey’

Reason for the title of your forthcoming release?

Fight! It’s a song about how I held back my fight when in an awful relationship so only now am I fighting back.

See me live at?

London – Omeara 01/11/24

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

I have no clue, I wasn’t there. All we have is stories and we all embellish stories. It looked fun but I am also having fun now! Music evolves and develops everyday. We have more accessibility to music now which is bad for artists but so great for the fans! I don’t think anything was better or worse. If we still enjoy music then that’s really all that matters.

Unusual merchandise?

I want to do BEX G Strings. Dunno how many people will buy them – I would haha.

Variations you’d like to do on one of your songs?

I would really like to do an acoustic version of Slave 2 The Grind but I just haven’t got round to it.

What do your fans mean to you?

Everything – seriously, fans are the entire music industry. If you don’t have amazing fans then you can’t share your journey, your message, your emotions. I am so so so lucky to have such awesome fans to support me and help me along the journey.

X-rays or any other treatments needed for performance-related injuries?

Not yet, hopefully never.

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Never mine…

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of you?

Elephant
