Track by Track: I Call Fives – Not For Everyone

I Call Fives recently released their new record Not For Everyone. Here Jeff Todd takes us through the EP in this track by track!

Not for Everyone

This song came about as a coming to terms with being happy with who you are. This is really an understanding that not everyone will appreciate you or what you have done. This was my way of expressing that the appreciation received from being your true self is far more rewarding.

Still Life

This is a song about a toxic past relationship with someone who had some borderline narcissistic behaviors. They would always try to paint themselves in a better light with a lack of empathy for those around them.

 Honest and Only

No matter how bleak the future looks, you can’t let it ruin the present.  You have to appreciate what you have, while you have it. You have to make the most of every day.

Hopeful

One-sided relationships are driven by hope. Hope that the other person will hold up their end, hope that they can change. Otherwise, someday you just have to write a song about that person and move on.

 Precious

This came about in the middle of the pandemic. I wasn’t happy with what I was doing, I cared too much about what people thought of me (sometimes I still do), and I just felt like each day dragged on without any real passion in my life outside of my family. So, I began pursuing things I have a passion for, and letting go of the things that no longer needed to be held on to. Life is too precious to waste dealing with bullshit.

Not For Everyone EP (by Drew Conte)

We started trying to make this happen at the end of 2019. It was a hell of a ride since then. I mean the world shut down. It’s 2023 and it’s here and we are floored to have the chance to share this with anyone still out there. We’re I Call Fives.. and this is not for everyone.
