The Hype dig deep into their inspirations

The Hype delve deep into the influences that shaped the duo into the band they are today!

Here at AltCorner we love The Hype (who you may remember as 3ree).

To celebrate the release of their latest single Something in the Water, we asked vocalist/guitarist Mitch Volcan and drummer Sean Tighe to tell us some of their biggest influences.

Twenty One Pilots

Mitch: That band influences us in more ways than one, especially when it comes to how massive a two pieces can sound and the no boundaries attitude.

Green Day

Mitch: They are such an inspiration to how dedicated a band can be; they’re really doing it and sounding better than ever 30 years into their career. Also, Billie Joe would have to be the greatest punk frontman of all time.

MGK

Sean: Like ourselves, you can’t really put him in a box or category. We really like to mix it up and go with whatever we want to sound like in that moment in time.

Thirty Seconds To Mars’ The Kill

Sean: The drive and passion can really be felt throughout this track. Every time we listen to it, it makes us inspired on how you can make a dark-sounding song that also lifts your spirits. Definitely some magic came up in that track.

The Cure’s Friday I’m in Love

Mitch: I guess the original Emo band, the song is just a master piece. No emo band would be here if it wasn’t for The Cure. One of those tracks where I wish we wrote it.
