HOT TAKES: Getting to know Plaiins

Welcome to the feature; Hot Takes! We chat to a band or artist that we have unearthed as some what of a hidden gem and allow them the chance to introduce themselves to you, the reader.

Q1 – Who is in your band?

It’s Chris on vocals and guitar, Flo on guitar, Timon on Bassand myself (Dizzy) on drums.

Q2 – What is your take on your own sound?

I think we’re basically the love child of a hardcore punk dad and an alt-rock mom, spent our summers with our 90s grunge grandparents and our favourite aunt is a classic emo girl.

Q3 – If someone was listening to your music for the first time, what song would  you tell them to listen to and why?

Tough one, because there’s already been so much growth and development in our music and our style. Our third single SNVKES is probably always a good start, because PLAIINS at its core is, and will always be, about pure and raw energy.

If you wanna start your PLAIINS with journey with a glimpse of what’s to come, then I suggest you first check out our latest release PUPPET. 😉

Q4 – What is the plan for 2023?

We just released our sophomore PUPPET EP, which concludes our release cycle for the first half of this year, and now it’s off to festival season and enjoying summer, before we go on our Germany tour in September and October. And, of course, the next songs are already in the works, which we’ll start sharing with the world around the time of the tour. But before anybody gets sad that it’s a while before fresh PLAIINS material comes out, I can give you another hint: there’s a very special tribute of ours coming soon to close the summer gap. 😉

Q5 – What is the one song you wish you wrote?

The Hardest Cut by Spoon. Banger riffs, cleverly arranged and awesome production! Love it!

Q6 – What three bands inspired or continue to inspire you the most?

Among the band members there are a TON of very diverse influences, but I think we can all agree on Idles, Reuben and QOTSA having a big impact on our style. Then, another band which personally I have come to love a lot more recently (and I know the others dig them as well) is Turnstile. What all of these acts have in common, they continue to reinvent themselves and push the boundaries, which inspires us to do the same.

Q7 – Where can our readers see you live or listen to your music?

Easy enough, follow us on our socials, e.g. on Instagram @plaiinsmusic_ and make sure to hit follow and subscribe on our Spotify and YouTube channels! Hit us up in our DMs and say hi!

Q8 – If your band was an animal, what would it be and why?

Definitely a squirrel monkey or sth! Looks stylish, cute and clever, and is probably nice enough. But you’ll never know when it goes off and goes running around like crazy, creating chaos and mischief just for the sake of it, haha.
