HOT TAKES: Getting to know Happy.

Welcome to the feature; Hot Takes! We chat to a band or artist that we have unearthed as some what of a hidden gem and allow them the chance to introduce themselves to you, the reader.

1 – Who is in your band?

We’ve got Sean on the drums, John on lead guitar, and Tate singing and playing rhythm guitar!

2 – What is your take on your own sound?

We definitely nod to nostalgic late 90’s and early 2000’s punk. However, we usually seem to add a little bit of a “surfy” sound into our music even when we don’t mean to. We are influenced by everything from pop to metal, so we just write music we like and it’s constantly evolving.

3 – If someone was listening to your music for the first time, what song would you tell them to listen to and why?

Sick is the New Sane or Liarliar from our new album “Imposter Syndrome”. Sick is the New Sane because it’s a good bridge between our first record and our new record. It’s everything you’d need to know about our older stuff, but in a fresh song. Liarliar because it’s a great representation of what the new album has to offer!

4 – What is the plan for 2020?

Whew. if you had asked us this 6 months ago we could have told you so many cool things. But that’s the way it is for everyone right now! Our plan is to continue to connect with fans virtually in all sorts of new and different ways. Putting out an album during a pandemic is certainly a first, but we are remaining close with our fans which is great. we are revamping the experience of our live show, so when touring comes back we will be more than ready on a whole new level. we are excited to keep releasing new music throughout the year and start streaming sets live!

5 – What is the one song you wish you wrote?

I love this question because I have so many. I am so moved and inspired by other people’s music constantly. Blame it on Bad Luck by Bayside is a song that I absolutely get chills over. It feels very similar to my lyric style, and I aspire to be able to write like that. If it Makes You Happy by Sheryl Crow is another song I wish I wrote. It’s incredible. A Walk Through Hell by Say Anything and Not Ur Friend by Jeremy Zucker are good contenders too.

6 – What three bands/artists inspired you or continue to inspire you the most?

All Time Low. Microwave. Yungblud.

7 – Where can our readers see you live or listen to your music?

Everywhere!! Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, Amazon Music, anywhere you’re stream songs! And as soon as it’s safe to tour again, we will come to a city near you!

8 – If you were an animal, what would it be and why?

Baby Harp Seal. Google it, it’s the cutest animal I’ve ever seen.
