Live review: Trash Boat, Capstan, Doll Skin and Woes @ Leeds University Stylus

Knowing full well I was set for a loaded night of pop punk, at times with a sprig of hardcore added in, I decided the only worthy shirt for the gig was my As It Is one. Then, in classic broke pop punk fashion, I used the day ticket from my bus journey earlier to get to Leeds, thus not spending extra cash on the train. 20 chicken nuggets down, I strolled to the venue, prepared for a night of mosh pit observing/avoiding.

After a weekend of nothing but heavy metal, what do you need most on the Monday night? More metal of course. So after Bloodstock Festival we find ourselves at Rebellion in Manchester for a night of thrash and death metal.

Slam Dunk 2019 Awards – Leeds

We bring you another festival awards from Slam Dunk!

I Prevail w/Palisades @ Electric Ballroom London

Doors opening at 7pm to a Sold Out show, with all patiently waiting for an hour before Palisades are set to take the stage. Everyone seems to be keeping themselves fairly entertained though by singing such "hits" as Bob The Builder, Spongebob Squarepants and Bon Jovi's 'Living On A Prayer' to name a few, in such a football chanting way.

Slam Dunk North 2019 Review!

Temple Newsam, Leeds, 25th May 2019: Never will you find a more wretched hive of snapbacks and Vans. As the fans begin entering the festival grounds, the day is bright and warm... sadly it won’t last, but rain, thunder or snow wouldn’t have kept the legions away from Leeds today.

Slam Dunk Festival South 2019

Day two of Slam Dunk 2019 sees us hit Hatfield for the final day of the touring festival. As a regular to the Birmingham date, it was weird heading to an all outdoor version of Slam Dunk. What was weirder but probably the best thing about the festival, was the fact that there were double stages, allowing for clashes to be minimised.

Phoxjaw and The King Is Dead at Satan’s Hollow, Manchester

It is a terrible crime that both of these bands find themselves playing a half empty small venue in Manchester on a Wednesday night, as both are perfect examples of new and exciting bands, drawing from the past while striving towards new territory.

Hollywood Undead, Loathe @ Leeds o2 Academy

Hollywood Undead at the Leeds o2 Academy is, thus far, the biggest gig I've reviewed. They're also, as the saying goes, not my cup of tea. However, Avatar aren't my cup of tea. Royal Republic aren't (really) my cup of tea. Five Finger Death Punch definitely aren't my cup of tea. And I enjoyed all of those bands live.

There is a mix to the crowd as we wait for doors to open, with teeny-boppers covered in glitter and young adults and mothers reminiscing about the good old days of when Busted first came about.
