Kid Bookie – Songs for the Living // Songs for the Dead

Kid Bookie will release new album Songs for the Living // Songs for the Dead on September 13 through Marshall Records.

A lot of this album is about feeling inadequate,” admits Bookie. “There are different facets and layers of that inadequacy, and it covers most of my inadequate parts, whether that’s my art or feeling inadequate in terms of love.

I approach everything I do with the idea that it’s a game,” he says. “So, how do I become a glitch in that game? And sometimes you have to throw a grenade in places, blow it up and just rebuild the infrastructure. I only have one chance to revel here, so let me be as transgressive, as raw, and as authentic as I can be. I want to be that glitch, that little ‘fuck you’ inside the system.”

Interlaker will release their self-titled debut album on October 4 through Hassle Records.

Jack Wrench said: “We both approached recording the album with a zero-pressure attitudeWe were both just up for writing music again.”

Dave Jakes added: “I tend to over-analyse everything, but it seemed to work out alright. I’m a bit fixated on my vocals.”

Dave’s voice and songwriting craft will always retain an identity, so we can push the music in any direction,” continues Wrench. “The biggest kick I got out of the recording process was presenting Dave with a musical backdrop where I was like, ‘I have no idea where he will go with this’. I’ve never heard Dave singing that blend before.”

Within The Ruins will release their new album Phenomena II on August 23 through MNRK Heavy.

“When you listen to us, we hope you feel like you found some fresh metal,” said guitarist Joe Cocchi.

“After doing anything for a long time, it’s easy to get stuck in your ways. So, we always try to present something you haven’t heard before—and you aren’t going to get anywhere else.”

We had written a handful of songs, and we were searching for inspiration,” recalls Cocchi.

“We wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phenomena, because it was a pinnacle point of our career. I wrote a demo that reminded Steve of Phenomena. So, it was his idea to create Phenomena II. The styles really aligned in terms of the unique guitar effects and the themes where each track tells a story from a comic book character’s point-of-view.”

ALT BLK ERA – Rave Immortal

ALT BLK ERA will release debut album Rave Immortal on January 10, 2025 through Earache Records.

Nyrobi said: “You might not notice on a first listen that this album is about my hidden disability that is a result of chronic illness that took hold during my teens and left me bed-ridden for years. I take the listener through the shadows and share the pain of abandonment I felt, and the solace that I found in my younger sister’s unwavering support.

“This part of the album is so painful for me and at the same time it feels beautiful because it shows my sister by my side, every step of the way; through each emotion and every story. I wouldn’t have been brave enough to share this part of me without Chaya and the track ‘Come On Outside’ is a beautiful reflection of her.

“But we don’t stop there! The album then captures the defiant energy that grew within us, as I became more able. The songs show us crashing through the imposed barriers and boldly claiming spaces that we were once excluded from. As the songs transition into a dreamscape, they delve into the exploration of relationships; the clash of personalities when fitting into a new friendship group and the dangerous mind of an infatuated person who is scarred by illness and years of isolation.

“The rebellion then builds as we begin to host wild celebrations, fiercely defending our joy after so many years of imposed restriction. The final tracks turn the tide, transforming our pursuit of freedom into an exhilarating hunt, where those who once stifled our spirit are drawn into our eternal dance of liberation, freeing them from all worldly constraints.”

Chaya continues: “This album starts as a deeply personal story of the physical and emotional pain that my sister went through when she first became ill. I was about twelve at that time. It was during the pandemic so it was a time of worry and isolation for me also but as Nyrobi slowly became more able to communicate, we spent every minute that she was awake together. I would sit in her room and contribute to her creations whilst she wrote song after song after song.

“From my more introverted perspective, the calmer songs reflect my nature, so ‘Straight To Heart’, ‘Come On Outside’ and ‘Run Rabbit’. However,  I’ll ride-or-die for my big sis, so when it’s time to be defiant or to be rebellious, or when it’s time to scream, I’m right there too. This is what the album is about for me – our bond, that also respects who we are as individuals.”

Straight To Heart
Come On Outside
Crashing Parties
My Drummer’s Girlfriend

To The Grave – Everyone’s a Murderer

To The Grave will release new album Everyone’s a Murderer on August 30 through Unique Leader Records.

Vocalist Dane Evans said: “For this record my aim was to speak through the faceless activists that fight for animals, for those living in vystopia feeling alone and helpless in a world that will fight tooth and nail to defend the animal holocaust. Due to it being illegal to rescue farmed animals from abuse these activists must stay silent about it to avoid having their own freedom taken.

“It wasn’t an easy task, it’s never going to do justice to the horrors animals go through every day by the millions in cold, dark sheds around the world or to those that have witnessed it and are doing everything they can to put an end to it. There’s no words, no lyrics and no music that can describe the violence or bring back the lives stolen by human hands, so this is for them.”

Set Yourself on Fire (In Public)
DxE or Die
A Body for a Body (ft. Connor Dickson & Siantelle Johns)
