Escuela Grind – DDEEAATTHHMMEETTAALL
Escuela Grind will release new EP DDEEAATTHHMMEETTAALL on January 12 through MNRK Heavy.
“‘DEEAATHHMMEETTAALL is the third installment of our EP series where we dive into the genres that most influence this band,” offers Escuela Grind vocalist Katerina Economou. “Finishing this trilogy has been years in the works. We are so excited to release these songs as they are perhaps the best reflection of our live performance. The stage has honed these hectic songs to perfection. Originally we were going to have three songs on this EP, but we wanted to create another track that had a huge build-up. This eventually developed into this brutal song, ‘Ball and Chain’, that marks the point in our live shows where we have a wall of death every night. Lyrically, it references death metal tropes of murder and revenge, but with a decidedly feminine angle.”
Tracklist
1.) Ball and Chain (Watch VIDEO)
2.) Punishment Ritual
3.) Abyssal Plane
4.) Meat Magnet (w/ Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway)
New Years Day – Half Black Heart
New Years Day will release new album Half Black Heart on March 12.
Ash Costello said:
“The album Half Black Heart holds a deep significance for us. While it’s common for musicians to express affection for their albums, this one truly stands out to me. It feels like the culmination of all the hard work and growth we’ve experienced while creating our previous albums coming together. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from those songs and poured it into this record.”
She continues: “One of the reasons why Half Black Heart is so special is because we were able to reunite with our original lineup. By adding Jeremy Valentyne, Brandon Wolfe and Trixx to the mix, we tapped into the original sound that initially defined NEW YEARS DAY. It allowed it to evolve into an authentic representation of who we are today! The title Half Black Heart visually symbolizes the essence of our band. It represents the duality that has always been a part of us – half red, half black; half heavy, half poppy; half dark, half fun, half metal and half rock. We have always embraced our unique identity, but with this album, we truly harnessed the fearlessness that NEW YEARS DAY embodies and translated it into our music.”

NOAHFINNCE – Growing up on the Internet
NOAHFINNCE will release debut album Growing up on the Internet on March 8.
He said:
He explains, “I only recently began processing the effect that growing up on the internet with hundreds of thousands of eyes on me, has had on my development as a person.
It’s impossible to separate who you are as a person and who you would be without people on the internet telling you who you should be – I’m sure a lot of my generation and generations to come can find solace in somebody recounting their frustrations with the world as it is now.
As a society, we’re entering uncharted waters where nobody quite knows the repercussions of having unrestricted access to any thought any person has at any time. Human beings weren’t built to perceive and compare ourselves to millions of others, we were made to pick berries and build relationships within our local communities.”
Kris Barras Band – Halo Effect
Kris Barras Band will release album Halo Effect on April 12 through Earache Records.
Kris said: “There is a strong rock & metal influence throughout the album and there’s also some progressive elements with some odd time riffs and experimental midsections. There are even some melodies and production ideas not dissimilar to what a lot of the modern metalcore bands are doing. Musically, this album is a lot more riff- and groove-based. ‘Halo Effect’ still keeps the essence of what Kris Barras Band is: big riffs and even bigger choruses. It’s just that, this time, we’ve turned everything up to 11 and beefed it up!”
