HOT TAKES: Getting to know Rosie Darling

Welcome to the feature; Hot Takes! We chat to a band or artist that we have unearthed as some what of a hidden gem and allow them the chance to introduce themselves to you, the reader.

Q1 – Who is in your band?

Right now I just tour with one other person! This recent tour I was with Mike Nardone! He is awesome. He is an amazing piano player and also runs playback for my songs and jams out with me while I sing my heart out on stage.

Q2 – What is your take on your own sound?

I try to keep more organic sounds in my songs and by that I mean recording a lot of the instruments live. My producer, Justin Gammella has an incredible old piano that we record all of the piano parts on. I also work a lot with Ben Barter to record live drums for a lot of my cinematic drum builds that  happen in a few of my songs like “Lost On You” and “Boxes” Lastly I love real strings! They can add such haunting emotional depth to my songs and I always am a big supporter of adding them into the mix.

Q3 – If someone was listening to your music for the first time, what song would you tell them to listen to and why?

Right now I’d say “Boxes.” This song is super important to me because it captures a traumatic experience I went through in 3 minutes. Relationships and emotions are already complicated enough at times and sometimes I find it easy to get lost in the details and make excuses for people. “Boxes” allowed me to simplify my emotions into a song and helped me stay grounded in what I was feeling instead of getting lost in all of it. It’s a deeply personal song and writing it has helped me in so many ways, and so I feel like it truly represents my songwriting and resonates across the board as a fan favorite.

Q4 – What is the plan for 2023?

I am so excited I am releasing my debut album “Lanterns” at the end of 2023! November 10th!

Q5 – What is one song you wish you wrote?

This is a tough question! There are so many, but right now probably, Ceilings by Lizzy McAlpine

Q6 – What three bands or artists inspire you the most?

Bon Iver, The 1975, Taylor Swift

Q7 – Where can our readers see you live or listen to your music?

I have a few more shows left in 2023 but hopefully more touring plans for 2024 🙂 You can find me on all music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, or Youtube!
