A song that made you want to make music?
Marco: Well speaking for myself as a guitar player who started off on a classical guitar, I remember hearing Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Aguas de Março” and instantly fell in love with harmony and its versatility. I think that was the moment I wanted to try to express myself with new sounds and put it on tape.
Best rider you have had?
We’re not divas so we usually just get beer and water, but the absolute best treat we found in a green room was a bottle of Fernet-Branca and a 2 liter bottle of Coca Cola. The Argentinians in the band really appreciated it.
Craziest moment in the band?
Oh god, too many to count – most of which can’t be mentioned out loud…but I’ll say this one: on our first tour opening for Hinds we would ask people in the crowd to please lend us a place to stay and honestly it worked more often than it should have. I have to state that this is not safe and I don’t recommend anyone try it. For the most part, the people who would offer would be absolute sweethearts with nothing but the best intentions in their hearts but one time we were offered to stay in a haunted house. I’m a skeptic but I woke up to something tickling my feet and I still can’t explain it…
Deepest lyric one of your songs features?
Marco: When the socks come off I get off
Nuchi: Dos cuatro vueltas de manzana yo me voy abajo
Easiest song you wrote?
Marco: It’s a tie between “The Dominoes” and “Taking up Space.” “The Dominoes” came to us about a week before we were scheduled to go into the studio to record the new album. I say ‘came to us’ because those kinds of songs don’t feel like they’re being written by you, sometimes songs feel like they’re coming through you and it becomes sort of effortless. That’s rare though, it doesn’t happen often but when it does you know you have something good
Nuchi: “Alolé”
