Mark Holley’s acoustic show was something special. Held at Sixty Six Sounds, a guitar shop decked with fairy lights, it created a cute atmosphere for the set. With the absence of drums and bass, alone with just his collection of acoustic guitars Holley’s vocals were phenomenal. Power and emotion comes across with every song sung, it was truly breathtaking. Opening with Breathe and Manic In Me, Holley started the set with songs everyone knew, they translated brilliantly to acoustic. This was before playing a collection of new songs. The new material is heartwrenching and tragic but in a beautiful way, every lyric clearly meaning at lot to Holley as he sings them with unsuppressible passion.

Halfway through the set Holley covered Wicked Things with so much emotion in the final lines it was an incredible cover and an honour to have heard it. The whistled intro of Am I Losing It was sweet and unexpected, the whole song sounding excellent acoustically. Holley played a lot of new songs tonight so it is clear to see that a new album must be in the not so distant future, despite only releasing Reidi this year.
