You Over Me – We’re Not Changing

Today’s track of the day is the debut single from You over Me – We’re Not Changing.

London’s newest emo-punks You Over Me are a quartet who are split down the middle when it comes to influences. The guys, Will (bass) and John (guitar) take inspiration from old school pop punk and the girls, Emma (vocals) and Amy (drums) prefer the more modern era of the genre.

The quartet formed towards the start of 2019 and are gearing up to leave their mark on the music scene.

Their debut comes in the form of We’re Not Changing, a piece of pop-punk. For a debut track it shows a lot of promise, with slick riffs, an upbeat melody and a kick-ass attitude in the lyrics.

Emma says: “We’re Not Changing feels like an anthem for anyone who has been deemed an outcast. Growing up I never felt like I fit in, someone would always have something to say about the way I dressed or how I had my hair or the way my makeup looked. I lost count of the amount of dirty looks I’ve received for just being myself!

“The reality is it’s my body and I can do whatever I want with it whether that be dying my hair an unnatural colour or dressing “differently”. In the end it doesn’t matter what other people think about you, what truly matters is what you think about yourself.

“I’m comfortable with myself and I’m 100% unapologetic to that. No way should you have to be made to feel sorry about being yourself. Standing out shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of, you should be proud of who you are because you’re beautiful and unique. The world would be a disastrously boring place if it was full of clones.”
