As everyone should be aware by now, Good Charlotte‘s prodigies Waterparks are releasing their debut album Double Dare on November 4. The band have now released the second track to come from the record. It’s very different to the Waterparks we know and love and here at AltCorner towers, we have mixed reactions but it is still a good track.
Frontman Awsten Knight says of the track;
“What’s special about ‘Hawaii (Stay Awake)’ is that it was the only song that was made before our last EP Cluster was even done. It was thiiiiis close to being track two on Cluster, instead of ‘Territory’. We loved both songs, so it was a tough choice, but we thought that the electronic, vocal-cut, pop-rock vibe was already covered well enough through songs like “Crave” and “Pink”, so we chose “Territory” strictly because it had a different feel than anything else from that release. We told ourselves we’d save this song for the album but then kind of forgot about it, as we had written about 40+ more new songs after that time. Once we started sharing our new demos with close friends, they ALL freaked over “Hawaii” and by that point we hadn’t thought about that one for a while, so we got to re-fall in love with it and decided it was the perfect opening track for our first album. Now go buy Double Dare and get the pre-order package with the body pillows of us. But get me, Awsten. Mine smells the best.”
