WSTR are back with their brand new album Identity Crisis, set for release on August 31st through their new label Hopeless Records.
Opening with the rifftastic Tell Me More, it’s clear from the outset that the new direction is a positive step for the Brits as they combine the trademark pop-punk vibes with monster riffs, creating a catchy opener. Lead single Bad To The Bone is the first taste of the more rocky direction and is a massive tune, while The Latest shows hints of the formula that made Green Day a household name.
Silly Me switches between acoustic and huge guitars for a catchy, light-hearted track. Things slow down for See You In Hell, which also features a little take of Summer Holiday in the chorus.
While the album may be titled Identity Crisis, it seems as if WSTR have actually found their identity on this sophomore release. They continue to keep their pop-punk roots while flipping a switch to a more natural and rocky sound. The energy WSTR are known for is still there and enhanced by the massive guitars.
