Thirty Silver are a post-punk/grunge duo from Boston, Massachusetts. They released their EP Lost Saints on January 21st.
Opening track Goat has intricate upbeat riffs which while slightly repetitive, are a good contrast to the grungey vocals. Familiar’s vocals are a lot stronger than the opening track and there is passion and emotion evident throughout the EP. The two-piece are akin to Tool in the vocals. The drums throughout the EP are prominent and upbeat and a prime example of this is in Someday, in which the drums and guitar combine to perfectly produce a track that is an all-around piece of rock art.
Martyr begins as if it is a direct follow-on from Someday but then branches out into its own track with some of the best lyrics of the EP. The drum solo mid-way through the track is on par with some of the best I’ve heard recently. Closing track Broken Wings is a 6 minute track of perfection.
Overall this is a great EP by a talented duo and definitely worth a listen. You can get the EP via the band’s bandcamp: https://thirtysilver.bandcamp.com/album/lost-saints
