Farewell, My Love – Above It All

This is an incredible record that shows the band’s maturing sound, while still keeping the theatrical elements. There is something for everyone here and it is definitely the quartet’s most impressive work to date. The skill on guitar is second-to-none and the vocals are beautifully overlaid, with a great range from Chad. I can’t give you a stand-out track because they are all mini-masterpieces. I am going to go all out and say that this is my favourite album of 2016!

AREA 11 – Modern Synthesis

Overall, Modern Synthesis is a little different to what I'm used to hearing, but to me, that's always a good thing (I was especially impressed by the mixed sounds of Watchmaker). Anyway, I'm sure once it's released on Friday, fans of Area 11 will feel that this has been worth the wait.

Tarja – The Brightest Void EP

After leaving Nightwish over a ecade ago, Tarja has really come into her own. The Finnish beauty releases The Brightest Void as a form of gift to her fans. It is a prequel to her up and coming album. The EP is a joy to listen to.

The Offspring @ Eventim Apollo, London 22/06/2016

Punk rock is known for being rather political, but it is also known for the fun that can be had. The Offspring are known for both. Tonight London plays host to the Southern Californian natives final UK show of the Summer Nationals tour.

The Broadcasts @ Clwb Ifor Bach 17/06/2016

The South Wales four piece are celebrating the release of their self titled album "The Broadcasts". They are fun and energetic from the start. The crowd are joyful, friendly and are generally enjoying the music.

Combichrist – This Is Where Death Begins

Combichrist are an industrial metal band who were formed in 2003 by frontman Andy LaPlegua. Over the years the band have released many albums, This is where death begins is the bands eighth release.

Hellyeah – Unden!able

Hellyeah were formed in 2006. Undeniable is the bands fifth release and what a release it is. Undeniable is an album full of heavy guitar riffs with outstanding drums accompanied by a good rhythm and quality of vocals. An album that fans of all forms of metal will love.

Fizzy Blood/Allusondrugs @ Le Pub, Newport

Le Pub is a cute little venue in Newport situated less than a five minute walk from the train station with friendly staff. Today the venue played host to the co-headline tour of Allusondrugs and Fizzy Blood.

The Autumn Ravine – An Intrinsic Evolution

An interesting title, much fitting with the cover art. To me, it looks as though we're looking at an evolution of a man who struggled and worked through his life, but once he had a son of his own, his child was given money straight from his father's pocket.

SAOSIN – ALONG THE SHADOW

There's not much else to say about this album except that well, it's simply awesome. And if post-hardcore is your thing, then you may just agree.

Slam Dunk 2016 Review – Part Two

So, as you have probably seen in our extensive review coverage of Slam Dunk 2016 (if not, you can go and read it here) then you'll know that there was a lot more that we left out of that article. The reason being, we didn't want it to go on forever and you lose interest. Also as there were several of us at different dates, we thought it would be a good idea to compare some of the artists performances, as we all have varying musical tastes, you can check out some of the acts below that multiple members of our team saw and what they thought!

Slam Dunk 2016 Review – Part One

Slam Dunk festival celebrated its tenth birthday this year with a monster party! With a diverse line-up including Panic! At the Disco, Of Mice & Men, Hellions, Blood Youth, As It Is, Yellowcard and many more, it was one not to be missed! Four writers (including myself at the Midlands) attended over the course of the weekend and give their views below!

Mallory Knox @ Slam Dunk South

Five-piece rock band Mallory Knox stood out to me so much at Slam Dunk South 2016. As this was the first time I've been to SD, it was a pretty big deal for me, including being surrounded by many of my favorite bands and artists.

Lacuna Coil – Delirium

Over the years Lacuna Coil have really developed their talents, and Delirium is their heaviest to date. However, the change in line up could have been a factor in the musical change but it could also be that they are still growing as people and artists and want to try other forms.
