Dubai based rockers Jay Wud recently released their latest record Transitions. We were excited to hear the guitar whizz’s latest effort!

From the start of opening track Shine Your Light, it’s clear that there is a lot of talent with the intricate instrumentation. The vocals are unique, at times, a bit hoarse but it works. Juggernaut seems like two different songs with the opening riff giving way about a minute in and being replaced by melodic vocals before building back up. Deception is four and a half minutes of guitar wizardry, pounding drums and a thick bassline.

Evil In Me is the shortest track on the record, clocking in at just under 3 minutes. It begins as a mellow track with some of the best vocals on the record. Another instrumental track I’ll Tell You sees yet more intricate guitar work. Closer Killing My Own rounds off the record with a catchy track that makes you want to start the record all over again!

The guitar work throughout the record is nothing short of incredible. There’s riffs galore throughout showing the pure talent of the Dubai based rockers. I have to say that guitarist/vocalist Jay is one of the most talented guitarists I’ve heard! There are a few instrumental tracks on the record, which usually I wouldn’t be that keen on, however, the instrumentation is so good that I could sit and listen to them forever! The tracks that do have vocals on are also top notch! There is a good balance of both.

9/10
