From the get go of opening track Stay I was given a bit of a The Faim vibe but with a lot more of a dance music element. The vocals are stunning and it’s lyrically beautiful too. There’s not too much on the instrumentation in the verses but this is helpful to allow the vocals to shine through but it picks up in the chorus.
Willows has a more rockier sound and it’s the track that has hooked me in on the album and as a fan of FLOYA. There is still a dance vibe but it’s a bit heavier with the instrumentation.
The Hymn is one of the stand out tracks on the album. It’s really catchy and mixes poppy hooks, a dancey theme and rocky drums and a great riff. Epiphany is also one of the top tracks too for the same reasons. I think they’re both my favourite songs on Yume.
The vocal range in Lights Out is really good, it mixes melodic, poppy hooks with some angsty and more intense deliveries.
Yume is a fun album that is absolutely stunningly put together. It’s upbeat and dancey but still retains the rocky elements. The hooks are catchy and so are the various bits of instrumentation throughout as I found myself regularly humming the melodies. If you need an upbeat and light album to listen to, then this is definitely one for you.
