It’s time to get to know Rudely Interrupted! We set guitarist Rohan Brookes 10 questions about their musical likes, tastes and guilty pleasures…
How would you describe your taste in music?
It’s a learning curve, so it changes as we learn more about what we like and as we explore these things we change, but you can always go back to your roots. My roots are in 80’s 90’s indie rock, now I’m loving ‘Take 5’ Jazz feels.
Who do you consider to be your favourite band and why?
This month, Wolf Parade’s new record, and then went back to Little Green Cars, The John Wayne killer tune. LCD Sound System’s new record, Rory is loving Group Love, really well-crafted songs.
Who is the best live band you’ve ever seen?
It’s all perspective. In my past I’ve had the privilege of touring with so many amazing artists and bands from the Killers to Morrissey from Jet to the Presidents of the United States and seen so many bands, it still thrills me to watch a great band move together, when they’re on fire, it’s so awesome. I remember watching the Smashing Pumpkins in a small venue in Melbourne, they we’re on fire.
What is the one song that you could listen to forever?
Color Wheel by Kit Warhurst
What album, if any, was a turning point in your ‘musical life’ and why?
Probably should say Dynasty by KISS, but when Rudely Interrupted had enough songs to call an album, that kinda change our lives.
In 3 words, what makes a good album or song?
It is intangible.
A festival or a gig? Why?
I saw The Pixies at a private show in Melbourne at my favourite local venue Northcote Social Club, it only holds 350, it was the first time the Pixies had played in Australia ever, and we lost our minds a little bit that night..
Who would be your dream 3 festival headliners?
Good mates I haven’t seen in a while.. The Anyones, Dollop and Arches of Loaf.
Who are the best new band you’ve discovered lately that everyone should know about?
Culture Abuse, Rudely Interrupted, Tra La La Blip
What band or artist is your secret, or not so secret, guilty pleasure?
The Sundays, amazing record, Reading Writing and Arithmetic. Oh and Valley Girl Soundtrack, it’s like AMAZING!
