It’s time to get to know Bailer! We set guitarist Chris 10 questions about his musical likes, tastes and guilty pleasures!
How would you describe your taste in music?
My tastes are all based around groove-oriented music, shit that makes me move. Not shit that makes me feel sad, that’s just not my vibe. I mainly listen to lots of metal, punk, and hardcore, but I also love me some hip-hop. If it’s dirty and it grooves and the vocals aren’t terrible, I’m usually sold.
Who do you consider to be your favourite band and why?
Every Time I Die – because they rule! 15+ years of releasing the best punk rock of our time while always touring relentlessly, it’s quite amazing! Not to mention it’s one of the wildest shows on Earth…
Who is the best live band you’ve ever seen?
The Dillinger Escape Plan, on their farewell tour, or else Gallows on the Grey Britain tour back in 2010. Both shows were in The Academy in Dublin, Ireland.
What is the one song that you could listen to forever?
Cole – Neighbours
What album, if any, was a turning point in your ‘musical life’ and why?
Linkin Park – Hybrid Theory. The first heavy album that I had access to and fell in love with. I was probably 9 or 10 years old.
In 3 words, what makes a good album or song?
Hooks, heft, feeling.
A festival or a gig? Why?
Festival, bigger buzz!
Who would be your 3 dream festival headliners?
Meshuggah, Converge, Mastodon
Who are the best new band you’ve discovered lately that everyone should know about?
God Mother. They are on Ben Weinman’s label Party Smasher Inc. and we played with them at the start of this year. I hadn’t really taken notice before that but their live show was ridiculous and now I’m hooked to the album. God Mother, check em out!
What band or artist is your secret, or not so secret, guilty pleasure?
After a few drinks, Backstreet Boys
