Landmarks are In Spite of it All

Manchester rock quartet Landmarks have announced their latest EP In Spite of it All is set for release on August 12. The title of the record is perhaps very accurate because in spite of all that has happened during the recording process, the EP is here and ready for release.

Manchester rock quartet Landmarks have announced their latest EP In Spite of it All is set for release on August 12. The title of the record is perhaps very accurate because in spite of all that has happened during the recording process, the EP is here and ready for release.

Bassist and co-vocalist Adam explains; “Everything was coming together swimmingly. We had tracked drums, bass, guitars and vocals, and I had put a whole day into getting the harmonies just perfect. But, then the studio was broken into during the night. Twice. Much of the equipment was stolen, and the studio was brought to its knees.”

Adam continues; “That traumatic event solidified the phrase in our minds. It’s subsequently come to work almost as a band motto for us. Thanks to an unexpected twist-of-fate, our producer Matt Heap was able to recover most of this equipment, and he managed to save this EP, and the whole thing reminded us to just keep giving everything we have, and to take each obstacle as it comes. I’m glad that we went through it in a way.”

The record sees the band moving away from their pop-punk roots and towards a more alt-rock sound, likely to attract fans of the likes of Brand New with its sombre, introspective front, although keeping some of the melodic traits the band’s fans are used to.
