Welsh indie bubblegum-punk legends Helen Love have unveiled the video for new track Thank You Polystyrene. The track is taken from the trio’s eight studio album Smash Hits, set for release on May 20 via Alcopop Records.
The track celebrates the iconic feminist punk band X-Ray Spex frontwoman and riot grrl pioneer Poly Styrene (Marianne Joan Elliiott-Said) who unfortunatey passed away in 2011. The track features samples of Poly talking and also the catchy intro of Van Halen‘s iconic single Jump.
Helen Love says of the track; “Thank you Poly Styrene for singing your songs and flicking a switch that turned us on…when you started singing I swear my heart stopped…all we wanted to do was be like you”
