Ice Nine Kills – Every Trick in the Book

I chose this record because the idea behind it is great. To have an album where each song is based on the darker themes of some of the worlds most popular stories is just fantastic! I could have picked any of their records, however this one is one that I have been listening to constantly and have yet to get even remotely bored of it! The way the dual vocals of frontman Spencer Charnas and guitarist/screamer Justin deBliek combine is just incredible and it has to be in my top five favourite albums of all time.

More Than Most – Impossible is Temporary

For me, this EP represents hope and is full of positive messages. Every single track on here really hits home to me and has become my go-to when I need a pick me up or inspiration to keep on going. As odd as it sounds but it is the reason for me returning to uni, the message of ‘impossible is temporary’ made me realise that while I did struggle last time I was at uni, that I would be able to pass when I went back.

Cardiff Brothers – The Beginning EP

I’ve been a fan of the hip-hop duo for a few years now and I am still in love with this EP! It’s really well written and the combined vocals are incredible. Each lyric hits home in various ways and every track is performed with surefire emotion. I could have chosen their whole back catalogue but decided to settle on this 2014 release purely because it contains my favourite song Raindrop.

HIM – And Love Said No: The Greatest Hits 1997-2004

Every HIM record has been incredible but this combines a lot of my favourite HIM tracks into one (it may be cheating but I don’t care haha!). Ville Valo’s voice is just so calming and hypnotising and the tracks are really well written and relaxing. It’s my go-to record to just sit and chill or when I’m revising.

Like A Storm – Awaken the Fire

This album deserves to be on here because it is full of everything you could ever want in an album; awesome screams, beautiful cleans, intricate guitars, great basslines and cracking drums, with the added bonus of a didgeridoo! There are some slow, thought-provoking tracks alongside the heavy in-your-face stuff meaning that there is something for everyone!
