It’s our favourite time of the year here at AltCorner Towers with Halloween just around the corner, everywhere is getting creepy. We’ve stocked up on super cute bat lights and everything! The only thing left is to sort out our Halloween playlist so we can freak everyone out more! So let’s delve into the world of all things creepy (although just for the sake of not filling this up with Danny Elfman scores, we’re only going to focus on bands) and find our perfect Halloween artists!
First up we have US metalcore group The Devil Wears Prada. Their videos are creative and creepy and we love Daughter. You can check out the video below. *WARNING!* The video contains strobe lighting.
Next we have another US band in Ice Nine Kills. The quartet are known for their creepy storytelling and latest album Every Trick in the Book brings to life some of the world’s darkest stories. Even frontman Spencer Charnas has perfected the creepy ‘I’m about to kill you’ look! Take a look at the video for Communion of the Cursed below which is based on The Exorcist.
In the British scene, the haunting orchestral backing and melodies of Solace in Nightmares combined with their creepy aesthetic earns them a spot on our playlist. The band released debut EP Secrets late last year and you can check out the awesome video for The SiNphony featuring Lisa Avon below.
The Dead XIII are the next best thing in British creepiness. The Manchester quintet’s captivating live shows, creative use of synths and the powerful vocals relaying the tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Latest single Daemons’ video sees the band being haunted by a demon which you can see below.
No Halloween themed article would be complete without a mention of the King of horror, Rob Zombie. Not content with creating some of the longest song titles, he also has the creepy, horror music videos down to a tee! The Zombie is also king of horror films, basically he just has to be on every Halloween playlist! Watch the video for The Hideous Exhibitions of a Dedicated Gore Whore (see what I mean about the long titles?!)
So there you have it, that’s our Halloween bands. Do you agree? Or is there a band we missed out that you think deserve to be included? Send us a tweet and let us know!
