Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of Ventures to tell us all about themselves!

In today’s A-Z challenge we learn all about Ventures as Ollie May takes on the 26 questions!

A song that made you want to make music?

Ollie – This would have to be Lucille by B.B.King for me, and I know Richard’s is Busted.

Best rider you’ve had?

Ollie – What’s a rider? Beer will do! Haha we’ve never had our own rider but some venues/promoters sort beers for all the bands so big love to them

Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?

Ventures – Don’t know about crazy but scared for our lives? Would have to be when we played Whitehaven for the first time as we borrowed our friend’s car and it seemed it wasn’t aligned properly so the whole trip was nerve wracking above 50mph.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

Ollie – “I cried feelings no one ever believed me so I hung myself that night and left him on the ceiling.”

Easiest song you wrote?

OllieLegs, we wrote it with just a chorus and had it finished in 15 minutes.

Favourite song in your set?

Ollie – Has to be Solitude! It’s very emotional and high energy!

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Ollie – I would love to work with Mike Hranica (Devil Wears Prada) or Jordan Fish.

Hardest thing about being in a band?

Ollie – Seeing ya boys have bad times, we are a family.

Interesting fact about one of your members?

Ollie – I can speak fluent German.

Richard – I’ve been on Tonight with Trevor McDonald.

Jokes you have in the band?

Ollie – We say Cinabit a lot, like have you ever seen a bit? What even is it?

Key to writing a song?

Ollie – Being mentally unstable.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

Ollie – We mooched down to Felixstowe twice now! We love that place.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Ollie – I’m gonna go with Stone Behzadi! We played with him when he was in Behind Blue Eyes, he’s an incredible talent! Now he tours with Wargasm! What a guy!

New band you’d recommend?

OllieGraphic Nature are dominating my eyelobes atm, What a band.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

OllieDevil Wears Prada 100%.

Place you’d most like to tour?

Ollie – America! It’s where it’s at.

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

Ollie – A crazy one has more fun than a sane one.

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

OllieMelt with Me, is about not mourning your childhood but embracing it and nurturing your inner child so you never lose yourself.

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

Ollie – Nope absolutely not, we are richer because of the past but the past is the past for a reason.

Ollie – We sell lighters and sunglasses.

Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?

Ollie – I’d love to rerecord black and white I reckon it would sound very different now.

What do your fans mean to you?

Ollie – Mean as much to us as we mean to them. Its always love.

X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?

None so far actually!

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

100% Jon, the guy runs on an alternate time lone.

Zoo animal that next describes the personality of your band?

Ollie – Probably hyenas, we eat nothing but bad food and laugh all the time but we are a tight group and always have each other’s back.
