snake eyes take on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists around. Here it’s the turn of snake eyes to tell us all about themselves!

A song that made you want to make music?

The whole of the first Gorillaz album is great and is the first record I remember being super into. “5/4” from that record is my fave!

Best rider you have had?

The Cavern in Exeter makes super delicious vegan food. If you’ve not been, I would recommend. Great venue too!

Craziest moment in the band?

We’ve been super fortunate straight out the gate but signing to Killing Moon 3 months after releasing our first tunes was pretty crazy!

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

Easiest song you wrote?

Favourite song in your set?

These 3 questions are all the same song so figured I’d bunch them together…“skeletons’‘ is a song that kinda fell in my lap and is my fave song in the set. Good energy and simple. I quite like “…it’s hard to see what’s clear with a narrow mind”.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

It’s not something I’ve given too much thought to but having Courtney Barnett feature on a track would be wild!

Hardest thing about being in a band?

Eating healthy when on the road.

Interesting fact about one of your members?

One of us was in a spice girls tribute band. We’ll let you figure out which one.

Jokes you have in the band?

The doors are off!

Key to writing a song?

Don’t overthink it.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

Only played 1 show to date in Brighton so just up the road.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

I’d say all of the Brutus guys are pretty incredible. Insane musicians and lovely people. Their success is the truest, well deserved.

New band you’d recommend?

Lots of good new bands coming out but we’ve got love for the Out Of Love dudes.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

Bad Nerves? Indoor Pets? Tigercub?

Place you’d most like to tour?

Honestly, anywhere as soon as possible. The UK is fun and Europe is pretty but we’d love to get to the States!

Quote that you’d like to pass on to our readers?

A snake eye for a snake eye makes the whole world snake blind.

Reason for the title of your forthcoming release?

Mmm we’ve got a title but can’t give the game away too soon. You’ll find out soon enough I’m sure….

See us live at?

We have lots of stuff cooking but we have announced a show in Norwich at Voodoo Daddy’s showroom supporting pin ups on 19th November – be there!”

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

Agree and disagree I suppose. People would naturally buy more physicals in the “old days” but streaming services naturally make it easier to reach more people soooooo, yeah. Just gotta make the most of what’s available to ya.

Unusual merchandise?

snake eyes socks. Anyone keen?

Variations you’d like to do on one of your songs?

Would be keen to do a variation of skeletons. I’m sure we’ll get around to it soon or later

What do your fans mean to you?

They mean a whole lot. We haven’t had the opportunity to get out and meet people yet so come say hey at a show

X-rays or any treatments needed for band injuries?

None yet…

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Anyone who knows us knows that this is the easiest of all the above questions. Brooker (drummer).

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band?

Gotta be a king cobra init. A big old snek.
