Religion of Tomorrow take on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of Religion of Tomorrow to tell us all about themselves.

A song that made you want to make music?

I was into a lot of bay area thrash bands and when I got my first guitar I couldn’t play much of anything but one of the first riffs that I got right was Death AngelBored and once I figure well if I can play that what else can I play, I was very wrong years later I resigned myself to playing bass in a band (lol).

Best rider you’ve ever had?

What’s a rider? No joke I don’t think we’ve ever had one?

Craziest thing you’ve experienced in the band?

We call it our luck? Which isn’t fair on luck really but if it can happen, it will happen to us, we’ve heard we are responsible for starting the pandemic.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

I like the lines “We wanna live by the rules we keep in place like we have no choice. But half of man can’t abide, so we can never win” from our new single ‘United We Fall’ the false negative or is it a false positive, all going out together by hook or crook and then the Covid 19 arrived and put a whole new slant on those words.

Easiest song you wrote?

We really aren’t the most prolific writers so this is a difficult one? I’d say ‘Uninvited’ from our debut album ‘In Theory’ its the same riff from start to finish, no joke!!

Favourite song in your set?

United We Fall’ I’d say? we all get in the zone, though it’s our last song so that’s maybe a little late to get in the zone (lol)

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

For me Chino Moreno from Deftones, he can do anything vocally and I think we could write around, erm “anything”.

Hardest thing about being in a band?

Everything, nothing is straight forward, We shouldn’t grumble, but here we are? But seriously there are a lot of fish in a ever decreasing pond.

Interesting fact about one of your members?

Karl (Vocals/Guitar) has Ankylosing Spondylitis the same as Mick Mars from Motley Crue.

Jokes you have in the band?

Every time we are offered a gig and asking everyone’s availability!

Key to writing a song?

Karl: Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Middle 8, Double Chorus or sometime Verse, Bridge, Chorus, Verse, Bridge, Chorus, Middle 8, Double Chorus, Tool we are not!!

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

Somewhere near Thorpe Park, Surrey I think , took us about 6 hours probably longer and played to two blokes at the bar, it was proper hot and everyone wouldn’t leave the beer garden.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Difficult one, I’ve seen so many bands, I guess I was taken back by Pink, the level that her shows go to is nothing id seen going to see rock bands.

New band you’d recommend?

Unknown Refuge from Bolton, we’ve done a few shows with them, young metal band, so good.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

I think we would suit The Foo Fighters, I think you have to look at it that way so you get the right audience, if it was just cos it would be Tool.

Place you’d most like to tour?

America, we had a USA tour booked right from Texas to L.A. and it fell through last minute, so definite exorcise those demons.

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

“Make your own luck”!

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

United We Fall, it’s a false negative to the saying United We Stand, Divided We Fall, basically let’s all go out together?

See us live at?

The Solway Hall Whitehaven 13th Nov

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

I’m not one for that, I don’t have a nostalgic bone in my body, I just want new music!!

Unusual merchandise?

White Religion of Tomorrow sweat pants, I’m too scared to wear em in case I get a dirty ass!!!

Variations you’d like to do of any of your songs?

We have done 2 HMV in stores unplugged and most of our songs translate pretty well?

What do your fans mean to you?

When you start getting contact from across the globe and see how far our music has travelled its pretty special, they are very important to us and we hope to give the some great new tracks more often than we have in the past.

X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?

Dislocated finger, I won’t say how, once bled really badly from a drunken headstand on a pool table with sunglasses pushed up on my head. Idiot!

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

We are never late!! Famous last words!

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band?

A toad its slimy and green just like this band?
