LÜT take on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here its the turn of LUT to tell us all about themselves.

A song that made you want to make music?

RefusedThe Shape Of Punk To Come. Groundbreakingly good.

Best rider you have had?

Spa Day at Malakoff Festival, NO. So great to play a great rock show and then have a relaxing spa afterwards. More of that in the future please.

Craziest moment in the band?

When we were about to release MERSMAK, we had to send out the pre-orders really fast and due to slow postal service, we got the records really late, so to get them all out in time me (Mads) and Ørjan sat in his small car signing 100s of records and packages.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

All the lyrics from the song “ingenting å angre på”. It goes pretty deep with us giving the theme of the song.

Easiest song you wrote?

Strictly Business – we had the raw idea for the song lying around in a Dropbox for a long time, and when we recorded MERSMAK we just pulled it out and “boom” it was done.

Favourite song in your set?

Even though we haven’t played it live yet, I’m really excited to play INDIA live, also VIEPÅ is amazing live.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Harry Styles, it would be a big success and all hits.

Hardest thing about being in a band?

Missing out on things like birthdays, happenings, summer days and so on because of traveling and studio.

Interesting fact about one of your members?

Both Markus (Vocals) and Marius (Bass) works as pizza delivery guys on the side while being in the band.

Jokes you have in the band?

“Krei!”. Nobody knows where it came from, only what it means. So if you get it, you get it.

Key to writing a song?

Good feeling, good melodies, a nice cold beverage and your best mates.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

Paris, France in 2018.

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Carl Christian Lein Størmer from our local scene. He took us in when we were just kids who had started our first band and gave us guidelines to the music industry. He also is a super cool guy and a great musician/filmmaker/doctor/uncle….

New band you’d recommend?

Can’t speak for the rest of the guys but I am super stoked on Origami Angel right now. I love their music and energy. Their record ‘Somewhere City’ is simply a masterpiece.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

Not really, we are pretty different musically haha.

Place you’d most like to tour?

Earth (post-COVID)

Quote that you’d like to pass on to our readers?

Stay safe, stay healthy and listen to LÜT.

Reason for the title of your forthcoming release?

MERSMAK is a Norwegian word meaning “a taste for more”. We thought it’d fit pretty well for our second album.

See us live at?

Everywhere once COVID has ended.

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

No, not really. I really love how music evolves and changes through time. Just like clothing trends, in music we tend to reproduce and romanticise older things so if your favourite music style is 70s punk I’m pretty positive it will return someday.

Unusual merchandise?

I really, really, really want to make skateboards, but for the time being we just have clothes hehe.

Variations you’d like to do on one of your songs?

Play the riff of Homme Fatale backwards, I think it would sound sick.

What do your fans mean to you?

Alot. They fuel us as a band and keep us in shape by giving us a lot of work both on and off stage.

X-rays or any treatments needed for band injuries?

Actually not yet haha, we have been extremely lucky so far when it comes to injuries.

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Markus (Vocals). Always oversleeps.

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band?

Bear.
