Leaving Eden take on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here it’s the turn of Leaving Eden to tell us about themselves!

In today’s A-Z challenge, we find out all about Leaving Eden!

Hi, I’m Eric Gynan co-founder of the bands Leaving Eden & Silver Springs Fleetwood Mac Tribute

(2 different bands with the same members)

USA, Boston MA

Label: Verdict Music, Dark Star Records

Sony/Universal World Wide Distribution

Eve – lead vocals

Alyssa Bailey White – keys/vocals

Jake Gynan – drums

Rich Chouinard – bass/vocals

Eric Gynan – guitar/vocals.

A song that made you want to make music?

Believe it or not “The Sounds of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel with those lyrics was very intriguing to me.

Best rider you’ve had?

Great food, liquor, beer, changing room, private bathroom/shower, mirrors, couches/big screen TV.

Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?

My security person, who has passed away, told me that he would be at every show the last time I saw him and his name is Bob. We were on a stage that was on the back of a tractor trailer, and there were tarps on the back appearing to be walls, but they were just tarps. I was jumping around as usual, and I lost my footing and I went backwards into the tarp which could never have stopped my fall and I probably would’ve broken my neck because we were pretty high up, but I felt somebody push me back as soon as I hit that tarp. Of course, there was no one behind the tarp.  But I felt the force. Indisputably. I felt like I got the message that it was my friend Bob saving me as crazy as that sounds.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

I’ve a mask of many faces, all of which seem to look the same. Beneath the surface waits a man, who’s yet to reveal his only name.

Easiest song you wrote?

The World is Yours

Favorite song in your set?

Dream With Me

Great Melody.

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Because we do the Silver Springs Fleetwood Mac tribute, it would be cool to have Lindsey Buckingham record with us. What a great guitar player.

Hardest thing about being in a band?

I think because you’re dealing with so many different personalities and different behavioral styles, it can be tough to navigate because everybody’s got their own ideas, and those ideas need to be acknowledged. Just because I may be a certain way doesn’t mean that others have to be that way so it is important to respect everybody’s individuality.

Interesting fact about one of your members?

Well, both Eve And Alyssa play the horns very well. From sax to trumpet to soprano horns, Mellophone.

Jokes you have in the band?

Rick bass player is quite clumsy. Just last week, he was standing on the tailgate, tripped over the trailer hitch, landed almost flat on his face and he’s a big guy.  It was hard not to laugh, but once we knew that he was OK, man, we really laughed.  He’s a Nitwit!

Key to writing a song?

Just the basics, great lyrics, great melody, harmony with some cool hooks.

Longest distance you’ve traveled to play a show?

We played from USA to Europe

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Alice Cooper. Just because his stage show is second tonight, and we’ve played with him a few times, and was blown away by the theatrics. He hung himself on stage, crazy it looked so real.

New band you’d recommend?

Alyssa turned us onto “Falling In Reverse

Opening for this band would be ideal?

Well, we played with Steven Tyler, but it would be cool to play with Aerosmith the full band.

Place you’d most like to tour?

Well we’ve been fortunate enough to have shared the stage with so many great artists. Leaving Eden has toured the USA, UK & Canada sharing the stage with hundreds of the biggest national bands in the world including; Lacuna Coil, In This Moment, Black Sabbath (Heaven & Hell), Ronnie James Dio, Rob Zombie, 5 Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Marilyn
Manson, Alice Cooper, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Puddle of Mudd, Korn, Killswitch Engage, Buckcherry (Jefferson Starship, Big Brother and The Holding Company, Country Joe, 10 Years After, 40th Anniversary
Woodstock) Shinedown, Dropkick Murphy’s, Alice in Chains, Papa Roach, Bret Michaels,

It would be cool to go to Asia.

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

A man is known by his actions not his words. ~Eric Gynan

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

School’s Out

Pothead (It’s 4:20 Somewhere)

We are releasing 4 more singles with New England based USA record label Verdict Music/Sony/The Orchard. We have just released a new EP titled “Reflections.”

The theme is about looking back, reflecting on the things that have made you who you are today. We also have our album “SnakeHead” soon to be released. It represents cutting the snake off at the head. So lots of recording going on.

See us live at?

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

Not really. I think it was much harder to get out there at least now you can get out there and the world is really at your fingertips as a musician. I think music itself, and the recordings were better back in the day with analog just because it really had the warmth of every instrument.

Unusual merchandise?

Womens Leaving Eden panties? Is that unusual?

Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?

Great question. We just did a variation on the pot head song  and also we just did one on the song “Back to Boston”, which is soon to be released as well as “Fear is not an option”, soon to be released.

What do your fans mean to you?

Just the world. Everything. Without our friends we are nothing, kind of like a car without a road.

X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?

This injury is related to the band because I was on my way to the recording studio. I did snap my ankle literally in half slipping on ice. Major surgery with screws and nuts and bolts.

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Rick’s Lol. Sorry Rick but it’s funny.

Zoo animal that next describes the personality of your band?

A cheetah with high energy and quickness.
