L E A takes on the A-Z challenge

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Today its the turn of L E A to tell us all about herself.

A song that made you want to make music?

Every song from Secondhand Serenade’s “A Twist in My Story” album. One of my all time favorite albums I discovered as a kid which definitely shaped me as the artist and songwriter I am today.

Best rider you have had?

Hey, I’m just happy to be there, but I love when the green rooms provide top quality alcohol.

Craziest moment you’ve experienced in music?

Maybe not the “craziest,” but my most memorable so far was when I had a writing session with Matt from The Mowgli’s and he handed me a copy of Where Did Your Weekend Go? on vinyl. Felt like a full circle moment for me.

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

“My armor is as good as your love for me” from Let Me Go.

Easiest song you wrote?

Probably Pebbles or Take You On Tour from my first EP Jersey Boy. I wrote those songs so fast
because the lyrics flowed effortlessly.

Favourite song in your set?

I Guess I Like You Anyway because I get to teach it to the crowd!

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Magnolia Park or Derek Sanders from Mayday Parade.

Hardest thing about being a musician?

Having money.

Interesting fact about you?

I’m adopted!

Jokes you like to tell?

I got a whole bank of butt jokes for ya

Key to writing a song?

Just say what’s on your mind. Speak from your heart. I don’t really have a method to my madness. For the most part, the truth comes out in lyrics and I structure it around a melody I like.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

Cross country!

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Paramore, Mayday Parade, and Neon Trees put on some the most inspiring live performances
I’ve seen.

New band/artist you’d recommend?

Honey Revenge

Opening for this band/artist would be ideal?

Charlotte Sands, Taylor Acorn, Magnolia Park, Meet Me @ The Altar, 408, just to name a few!

Place you’d most like to tour?

Would love a solid US tour.

Quote that you’d like to pass on to our readers?

“Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end” I live by this.

Reason for the title of your forthcoming release?

My sophomore EP is titled Happy Never Ending. It’s hard to put an end to things that make you
happy, even though it might not be good for you.

See me live at?

2023 is a new year! Stay tuned for more show announcements.

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

Oh boy. I’m indifferent. I would have loved to experience the music industry as it was before the internet. But social media has also been so beneficial for independent artists. I don’t think I’d be where I am today if it wasn’t for social media and the internet.

Unusual merchandise?

Scene Queen gifted me a thong with her logo on it. Iconic.

Variations you’d like to do on one of your songs?

I want to make a Nu-Metal version of Hawaii SO BAD.

What do your fans mean to you?

1 fan, 20, 200, a million. All it takes is one person to believe in you and I wouldn’t change the support and love I get from my friends and fans for the world. It makes all the hard times worth it and I hope to continue to inspire through music.

X-rays or any treatments needed for performance-related injuries?

None thankfully, but I have absolutely fallen off a stage before, lol.

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Mine. I’m never on time for anything (though I take my career seriously, so I’m usually pretty punctual about shows)

Zoo animal that best describes your personality?

I got excited when I googled “zoo animals” and saw a hippo. My friend sitting next to me just said “cuddly on the outside but aggressive if confronted or senses danger” lmao, it’s fitting.
