A song that made you want to make music?
Drift Away – Dobie Gray
Best rider you’ve had?
On this Maroon 5 tour we got some pretty high quality tequila some nights. That kept things pretty exciting.
Craziest moment you’ve had in the band?
I think for the band, the meeting of fans post show was a crazy experience. Getting barricaded in by hundreds of people was just something we have yet to experience as a band so it was really wild…. I also almost was arrested in Barcelona which was a pretty interesting situation.
Deepest lyric one of your songs features?
“So let me try and pull you away, cause i’m losing to the voices in my head” from ‘Blame it on the Rain’
Easiest song you wrote?
Keep You Around
Favourite song in your set?
This answer is always changing but after this current tour, I would say either ‘One Last Time’ or ‘Bad Idea’!
Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?
Another impossible question to limit down to one answer, but if I had to pick today, I would say Miley Cyrus.
Hardest thing about being in a band?
Honestly we have such a great thing going there isn’t anything we struggle too much with. I hate not having some tea for you but these guys are my dawgs!
Interesting fact about one of your members?
Jack (our drummer) has the most absurd eating habits of anyone you’ve ever seen. He will not touch anything green and has to have an entire bottle of ketchup with every meal… (yes it’s a problem & we’re working on it).
Jokes you have in the band?
Hahaha other than the wild ketchup situation?? Our guitar player Dario is from Italy, so we always make fun of him because every time he’s meeting new people he uses the “I’m Italian” card CONSTANTLY. We love that for him but it absolutely warrants getting some shit from us. I just read him this answer and he said “It actually saves a lot of situations” …. point proven.
Key to writing a song?
Don’t force it.
Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?
Budapest Hungary… That will be the farthest from home I have ever played. This was my first time touring in Europe which has been so much fun, but Hungary will take the win as the farthest geographically from home.
Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?
From this Maroon 5 tour we just finished, I can say confidently that all of those guys are inspiring. I admired and learned so much from watching Adam perform every night. Usually after seeing the same show a few times you lose the spark of it, but not with Adam & M5… I was inspired and blown away by new moments every single night. I also have to say PJ Morton from the band had a solo show I saw in London the day before our show… And it was wildly inspiring. Just him, keys and a packed crowd of people who just wanted to jam and witness him do what he does… That was a recent show that blew me away and inspired me as well.
New band you’d recommend?
Quarters of Change. My guys from NYC. Incredible band doing incredible stuff.
Opening for this band would be ideal?
Right now all I want to do is play shows… I would play in front of anyone right now but if I had an ideal pick, I would stick to my choice for the feature and say Miley Cyrus. She would be my #1 tour choice.
Place you’d most like to tour?
I so badly want to go to South America. I think about it daily.
Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?
So I almost got this tattooed on my arm the other day… I’m waiting till I’m home but I think it’s an incredible quote about passion, drive and about finding your purpose and knowing you would do anything for it…. The quote is, “By any means” “(by any means necessary)”. Pretty simple at first glance but if you really think about it and what it means to you individual, it becomes so inspiring… At least to me.
Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?
When I look at my past, and the things that happened to me for the first few years of my career, my natural instinct is to be frustrated and wallow on the mistakes that were made… But after making this album and realizing the growth that had happened over that time… It became so clear that all of that was so necessary. I would not be who I am, or where I am without those hard times and those mistakes. So when it came to naming the project – Best Mistake felt perfect… As in all of the past resulted being the best mistake I ever made.
See us live at?
I will be announcing a new tour in the next month or two for US! Europe in the beginning of 2024!
The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?
With zero doubt.
Unusual merchandise?
Were putting out these really cool rear view mirror hanging dice very soon. They’re so sick and cool but yeah they serve zero purpose other than that haha.
Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?
Oh god… So many already. I learn so much being on the road and performing these songs with everyone… They just hit harder live so I want to put out live versions.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are everything man. The connection that we make together at shows and in person is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. These people become a part of me, and a part of us. I can’t really explain it… They’re just everything. It sounds cliche but it’s truly like a family & like a party together.
X-rays or any treatments needed for band related injuries?
Hahaa not yet!!
You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?
Probably tour manager… If we have lobby call or bus call at 10am… we’re all usually there by 10:05… So if we were ever reallyyyy late to a show it would be because someone had times mixed up or the van broke down or some shit.
Zoo animal that next describes the personality of your band?
Eagle.
