Early Eyes take on the A-Z challenge!

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here its the turn of Early Eyes to let us know all about them.

A song that made you want to make music?

The Scooby Doo Theme (What’s New Scooby Doo Era)

Best rider you have had?

Could never forget the [literally] 100 craft beers they gave us at Bayfront in Duluth, MN!

Craziest moment in the band?

We were in Plant City, Florida and we were staying at a shared-space AirBnB and the homeowners were hanging out and listening to our music with me in the kitchen when their daughter came out and was like “Mom, why are you playing Early Eyes?” only to see me standing there in her house lol. I will never forget how validating and wholesome the following conversation was!

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

“I’ll just peace the fuck out” in “Chemicals” really speaks volumes

Easiest song you wrote?

Most of the time, we kind of just keep writing them until they become easy and that’s when you know you’re on the right path!

Favourite song in your set?

!!! “Revel Berry” !!!

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Hayley Williams, Teejayx6, Kate Bush, Scott Stapp, Kero Kero Bonito, Joe Hisaishi

Hardest thing about being in a band?

Feeling validated as an artist under capitalism and trying to find success while not sacrificing your principles!

Interesting fact about one of your members?

I (Jake) have an extra bit of bone where my tailbone should be, so semantically, I have a “tail.” Someday, I hope it becomes prehensile.

Jokes you have in the band?

Smoke up the Buffalo

Key to writing a song?

C#min

Jk… We always try to find the thing that will make everybody in the room have the most fun, and then continue to peruse that! Most of the time when we are writing, we are big-time loling.

Longest distance you’ve travelled to play a show?

Minneapolis to San Francisco! (Like 1.5 weeks ago)

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

Our bandmates! The best way to further your own vocabulary and skill is to learn from your friends and the people you trust the most!

New band you’d recommend?

VIAL, Gully Boys, Why Not, Papa Mbye, Soviet Strongman (coming soon)

Opening for this band would be ideal?

Creed

Place you’d most like to tour?

Probably Japan, Cuba, or any Euro-tour!

Quote that you’d like to pass on to our readers?

“Are You Ready?” -Criss Angel

Reason for the title of your forthcoming release?

It’s got pizazz!

See us live at?

On tour with Hellogoodbye right now! Check the internet for those dates 😎 Some East-coast headlining gigs as well!

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

Sometimes, yes / sometimes no! I think the internet has provided a platform for people to share music and learn from each other in a way that has changed the whole scope of music-making, however, with all these new avenues of communication comes more opportunity for the wealthiest folk to capitalize on the creative work of burgeoning artists and take advantage of communities that already face enough strife from the top down.

Unusual merchandise?

Really want to make early eyes lighters 👀 🔥

Variations you’d like to do on one of your songs?

We have some remixes of our songs we have been playing as “walk on” music at our live shows! Someday, we’d love to release them publicly!

What does your audience mean to you?

EVERYTHING! Primary reason for making music, is to share an experience with our friends and audience!

X-rays or any treatments needed for band injuries?

Never from a performance-related injury!

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Sam was practicing magic tricks in the shower, but it’s chill!

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band?

Not really evocative of the early eyes experience, but we’ve been learning a lot of owl facts on tour 🦉 Also partial maybe to Baboons
