Amongst Liars take on the A-Z challenge!

Our A-Z challenge is a fun way to get to know the many bands and artists out there. Here its the turn of Amongst Liars to tell us all about themselves.

A song that made you want to make music?

Smells Like Teen Spirit

Best rider you’ve had?

Beer and pizza – and lots of it.

Craziest moment you’ve experienced in the band?

Each day there is a new level of crazy achieved in this band! We have done quite a few all nighters after shows, which have been pretty wild!

Craziest ‘pinch me music moment’ was supporting Theory of a Deadman recently – that was an insane show!

Deepest lyric one of your songs features?

On the flip side of it all

I can learn to live alone

Who are you to scold me now

Not the martyr I’ve become

On a dark side of the soul

In the recess of my mind

You can lash out all you like

Lost a friend, my soul, my all

Easiest song you wrote?

Mind – it just came together really quickly.

Favourite song in your set?

Over and Over

Guest you’d most like to feature on your record?

Doja Cat or Post Malone would be interesting to collaborate with from a ‘wtf could happen’ perspective. From the more rock world would be awesome to feature Lzzy Hale!

Hardest thing about being in a band?

Organising everyone to be in the same place that the same time. It’s a bloody nightmare sometimes!

Interesting fact about one of your members?

Ross is the current Horseboarding World Champion

Jokes you have in the band?

That Ross is the current Horseboarding World Champion. Only joking…. we spend a lot of time taking the piss out of each other and laughing, so there are too many jokes tbh!

Key to writing a song?

Go with the flow, don’t overthink and force the process – and enjoy writing it.

Longest distance traveled to play a show?

We drove to Scotland and back to play Wildfire Festival last year – took 14 hours to get there from the south coast as traffic was awful and then 9 hours to get back the next day (after no sleep!)

Most inspiring musician you’ve experienced?

I saw Bowie live and that was probably the most inspiring gig I’ve ever been to.

New band you’d recommend?

We played with a great band called Dead Posey the other day who are also amazing people.

Opening for this band would be ideal?

Shinedown

Place you’d most like to tour?

America

Quote you’d like to pass on to our readers?

Do good and good will come to you.

Reason for the title of your recent/forthcoming release?

We self titled it, as it’s an introduction to us.

See us live at?

15th July  – The Black Heart, London

22nd July – The Temple, Eastbourne

30th September – Fighting Cocks, Kingston upon Thames

6th October– The Waterbear Venue, Brighton

7th October – O2 Academy2, Islington

The old days of music were better than the current, do you agree?

Nah – we live in the present, enjoy it and look forward to the future. There are definitely more bands and less venues these days though, which makes things harder. We’ve had amazing music in the past to be inspired by, but I think more great days are yet to come, as music has to evolve.

Unusual merchandise?

Amongst Liars Plectrums. Which is also really useful when you lose your own picks too!

Variations you’d like to do on any of your songs?

We’ve just actually done two remixes for our single All Over Now – one featuring a local rapper and the other a dance/electronica remix, which was great fun. We’re definitely going to be experimenting a lot more with future songs too.

What do your fans mean to you?

Everything! We always love meeting and speaking to people who follow and support us!

X-rays or any treatments needed for band-related injuries?

Adam had to have shoulder surgery last year after too much drumming!

You’re late for a show, whose fault is it?

Adam’s!

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band?

An angry rhinoceros
