Hot Takes: Getting To Know Last Hounds

Welcome to the feature; Hot Takes! We chat to a band or artist that we have unearthed as some what of a hidden gem and allow them the chance to introduce themselves to you, the reader.

Q1: Who is in your band?

Mikey Skelcher – Vocals
Chris Collins – Drums
Ben Taylor – Bass
Tom White – Guitar
James Rocco Valentin – Guitar

Q2: What is your take on your own sound?

We’re pretty stoked to be a part of what seems to be a modern punk revival (did it ever die though, really?). We all have pretty diverse music tastes but we try and make sure our sound is hard hitting, full of energy and catchy AF!

Q3: If someone was listening to your music for the first time, what song would you tell them to listen to and why?

Avoiding the urge to plug our latest single but here goes, definitely check out “Handmade”. It really encapsulates what we are as a band. It’s short, it’s sweet and it’s got everything you can expect from Last Hounds. A big gang chorus, Mikey giving it some on his verses and and the energy that will make you want to break things.

Q4: What is the plan for 2019?

As a band we try and play as many shows as possible getting out in front of new and loyal fans in new places. We’ve got a load of shows to announce in the coming weeks to kick of 2019 on that front.
We’re also hitting the studio regularly in 2019 taking a step away from the usual “annual EP release”. We want to make sure we’ve always got something new for fans to get stuck into so we’re focusing on a regular stream of new music to keep things fresh and interesting.

Q5: What is the one song you wish you wrote?

This is a tough one, but it’s got to be “Sweet Kerosene” by Four Year Strong. What an absolute belter.

Q6: What three bands inspired or continue to inspire you the most?

This is quite a personal one, and I’m sure some of the other members of the band could give you a completely different answer. For me, it’s Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Bring me the Horizon and a big one for me when I was growing up we’re Green Day.

Q7: Where can our readers see you live or listen to your music?

There’s a lot of stuff we are yet to announce, but put it this way, we’re going top to bottom of the UK throughout the year so watch this space.
But you can always catch us on the usual places, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube etc. You can’t escape us!

Q8: If your band was an animal, what would it be and why?

Have you ever heard of the Honey Badger? They look cute as hell, all furry and what not. But damn they’ve got a bite. I think thats pretty accurate…
